It may not seem like much.. but the missions get harder and longer as you go along. So it will take some time to do them all.
and not to mention all the quests you can do along the way.. some for xp, some for skills.. and some are required to do to get to the next mission.
so while 24 mission's might not sound like much... but it's a lot longer, harder and challanging than you think

To explain kamatsu's comment a little better. "and not to mention all the quests you can do along the way.. some for xp, some for skills.. and some are required to do to get to the next mission."
There may be only 24 missions. These are story related, and progress you from Ascalon City to (I don't honestly know ... haven't gotten there myself).
But, each town and settlement usually has at least one quest that you can do.
If you think of pre-searing. Ascalon City is a city with multiple quests, Fort Ranik is a "mission" city, and the other places could be considerd settlements.
And this doesn't count the areas out side the settlements / cities that have no name, that you have to travel through to get to the next settlement / city. Sometimes these contain quests as well.
I just did a quick count and came up with over 60 cities, mission towns, and settlements on the post searing map.
Belive me, there is more than enough content for a pve player to keep busy in post searing for quite some time.
