Not sure if this has been discovered yet or not, but I have successfully run two copies of Guild Wars.

The only thing my tired little mind can think of this being useful for is manually running your own characters to various places using an older character.

Anyways. Here's how I did it (XP operating system).

Create a 2nd user profile. Copy Guild Wars to a 2nd location. Run Guild Wars. Go into the registry and change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArenaNet\Guild Wars 'path' to the 2nd location. Switch users to the 2nd profile and run Guild Wars from the 2nd location.

Not the most coherent post right now, I'm pretty tired but found this worth sharing immediately.

I AM tempted to buy a 2nd account for something like this.. lol.

Correct, you can also find that info here:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ghlight=copies

My problem is I am only running Windows 2000 Professional. So no "user-switching" for me. Must find other solution.

But is that thing legal?

I mean, you can level up pretty easily with that, and also run your char thru any mission or anywhere you want...

No different than paying someone else to do it really and it gets A-Net more money so don't see why it would be bad.

I successfully (about 5 versions ago) ran 2 copies of guild wars, on the same user account,

I did something similar, by having a second directory of guild wars, and I made 2 little registry files and a .bat file to run the second copy

I accomplished this by HEX editing the 2nd copy of gw.exe so it did not run a check for guild wars, however... since some of the most recent updates, hexing it doesnt seem to work anymore... I will however, continue to attempt to get 2 copies running...

Keep me appraised of the status of this

Hex editing would be great!

Ye olde England.

It is definantly possible to have to multiple clients open at once if you do some things with the registries, however you must have multiple game accounts, this was fixed during a recent patch.
If you follow this guide you can open two at once: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=27103

Haha, in some ways this game is becoming more like Diablo2, and in all honesty that's awful but great at the same time.

Is it possible to do this without another user profile? I have a dual monitor setup and would like to run both on seperate monitors from within the same user profile.

Nice info, been thinking about getting another copy so i can play a
more wide choice of character & skill setup's to see what i could
come up with instead of having to delete something, .

And by the looks of it quite a few other people having the same
thoughts about having extra storage and also leveling up your
low level characters using your other ascended or complete
characters, im all for that if it's for a genuine reason!

Looks like soon to be buying another guildwars copy from play, .
