Money from loot

I'm confused. Would I make more gold salvaging items and selling them to the merchant or selling the items the way it is? Also, is it worth it to identify all the items i get? (one website sayed it'll raise the worth of the item)

sometimes it only raises the worth of the item by 1 gold...sometimes 14, sometimes 20, sometimes none...it's not really all that worth it in the long run. More often than not it only raises the value a couple of cold and doesn't make up for the loss in Identification Kits over time.
It all depends on the item...if the item is junk(high dmg no mods) then salvage it. if it's completely useless sell it to the trader as you'll only get 1-2 items from the salvage. If it's a good weapon try to salvage out the mod and sell the mod...otherwise just sell the weapon the way it is.
you won't make much money from the merchents/traders unless you are salvaging everything for materials.

so is it worth it to salvage keep consuming salvage kits?

In the long run it's better to salvage items/useless weapons. For example, salvaging a decent axe, or sword, will yield like 4-5 iron ingots. Those iron ingots stack up and only take up 1 space in your inventory, unlike weapons. You can then amass a goodly amount of the raw material (iron ingots in this example) and either sell them to the merchant for a decent price or to players looking for the materials you have.
I'd only suggest identifying purple and gold items/weapons-the blues maybe if you're feeling lucky. If the item you identified is useless, expert salvage it and maybe you'll get a good weapon upgrade. If you get a good weapon out of id'ing it, you might be able to sell it for a good price to another player.

I would suggest salvaging allthe junk fgor materials.
You can sell stacks of 250 to players for a good amount. Even if you save time and sell to merchant or materials traders you make good money.

The reason to pack salvage kits with you:
You could go on for a while in a mission without having to go back to town to empty your bags. A Grim Cesta, a Short Sword, each takes up one slot. Fight 25 monsters and your pack is full of items. But you can stack 25 iron ingo or 100 wood planks, each take up only 1 slot. I usually pack 2 or 3 salvage kits into a mission.
So far, I would ID only stuffs that I suspect will be precious (unusual monsters, unusual items, etc.) or having purple/gold labels.
ps.: and this implies I salvage a lot

i have found it worth iding everything from Kryta onward
yes you will get the 1 gold bumps but most times you will break even or come out 5-10 gold ahead
the many times i have gotten a 25-70 gold jump make up for any losses with a lot to spare
i salvage anything i know will give me 3-5 or more of something with a regular salvage kit and expert salvage anything with an item upgrade i want or rune
