When do you customize your weapons?
HotSnack
Do you customize every weapon you use to remain on the edge, do it rarely as it's a waste of money, etc?
A general rule of thumb for me is to only customize weapons that I wouldn't consider to be used as hand me downs i.e. low-grade weapons and my incredibly fantastic final weapon(s).
This way at least I'll be able to give the weapons away to guildmates, friends, my other chars or just simply sell them off once I've finished with them.

i only customize armor, because if u customize a 5k gold sword and when a new sword comes out that is stronger you will be stuck with ur old 5k gold sword and u cant sell it or give it away.

i only customize swords till i get into higher than 12 min dmg, then save till i get a good hilt and whatnot to customize anything bigger, because they sell for a nice amount

As weapons drop often, I customise every weapon I use.
But until you find/buy that new 'stronger' sword, your 5k sword will be doing 20% less damage than it could.

yeah, since i don't really change weapons much, I customize it when i get a good one, and don't change it in unless that one does more than mine +20%

I customised only the non-unique weapons I would pick up until I started finding the special Fire staffs (those were worth more to trade/sell). The 20% dosent do much for casters unless you run out of energy, but it still made me feel special when I had a 5-7dmg wand.
For warrior and rangers, I guess it would be a bonus since your damage is directly related to your weapons rather than spells.
I suppose it would come down to sell/salvage anything that isnt better than what you have and if you are next to a town when you find something better, go customize it.

Rage
Sounds cool

I customize any weapon I consider I'll be using for a few levels. If I am playing a Ranger/Necro, I am sure as hell won't need a sword. Additional 20% damage on a bow might save my life one day.

Now when everyone says "customize your weapons" that means?

My philosophy is, if it's worth wielding, it's worth customizing. If I find something better, I just sell it to the outfitter or salvage it. I wouldn't dream of using any weapon uncustomized for any real length of time.

What does salvage it mean. And when on your quest.. how do you collect money?
