Flower, Cape and Flute?

At the beginning just out side of town i gave a girl a flower, cape and flute but got nothing in return - was I suppose to or does giving her these items effect the story later on?

if you talk to gwen she will heal you.

Is that what she does when she follows you?

she will heal you if you get hurt enough.

just talk to her once then let her follow you.free healing

Shes a kid. Do you expect her to do what shes told?
