Griffon Run Ranger pls look need help
Van the Warrior
ok my ranger is only up to droknars forge so i cant exactly do this run yet but if someone with the following skills im gonna list can spare like 15 minutes to try and run this it would be much appreciated
10 fire
13 expertise ( 10 + 1 from hat +2 from major)
10 wilderness (8 + 2 from major)
9 marksmanship (8 + 1 from minor)
Oath Shot
Throw Dirt
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent
Healing Spring
Meteor Shower
Fire Storm
Lava Font (or use glyph of lesser energy or power)
( used my pvp toon to make build)
what i was thinking was just drag the stuff behind u like ussual as if your a warrior BUT activate your whirling defense first, shake off the devourers and clump up a group of minotaurs/griffons throw dirt down then use oath shot to get your whirling back lay down troll and healing spring followed by meteor shower for the knock downs (you should get health back at this point) then follow up with another throw dirt and use your fire storm or lava font depending on what your bring
if someone is bored enuff to run this and lets me know how it goes down it would be much appreciated

You'd run out of energy very quickly.
From what I gather of the Griffon run, you MUST be a monk for it to work. Not a monk primary, necessarily, but without specific monk skills you just can't pull it off.

Healing spring is super easy to interupt. I think you would have to knock them down before you could even think about casting it... Cast times are a big pain here also. Wish I had a R/E to try it thought. E/R is probably better for this. So much more energy.

I don't think that build's gonna be too effective. You're gonna run out of energy before you ever accomplish anything. Also as a ranger you aren't going to be able to engage the entire griffon crowd outside of prophet. It is possible though I've done it on my ranger. You need to run a trapper build...and the key is to get everything killed before you run out of health.
R/Me
Dust Trap
Flame Trap
Barbed Trap
Oath Shot
Mantra of Resolve
Spirit of Failure
Edge of Extinction
Whirling Defense
you want to move just outside of aggro for one of the griffon mobs. Lay down three traps then put up an EoE. Wait for the traps to recharge and move forward two steps and lay down 3 more. Then pull the mob onto the traps(you'll know the exact location thanks to EoE). As soon as they move over the dust trap they'll be blind and you can throw up Mantra of Resolve and Spirit of Failure on one of the griffons. Mantra will make it so that even if they do get a hit in on you(blind caused 90% failure) it won't interupt your trap. Spirit of Failure gives you energy every time that griffon misses(plus another 25% failure chance). Lay down three more traps and then oath shot. Lay down three more traps. At this point at least 1 griffon should go down and EoE will quickly kill the rest of the mob.
Use whirling defense if the blind should wear off...or if you are taking too many hits from the rockshots. It's good to keep the rockshots around as they should be the only one's doing damage as they won't be blinded but with whirling you will will do AoE dmg everytime they miss.
it takes a little practice and you'll need to mess around with your attributes to see which works best. Best of luck.

Healing spring also heals them.

Yeah Healing Spring is too damn easy to interrupt and takes too long to cast for it to be useful at all.
And no you don't need a Monk class at all to solo Griffins. I've done it with a E/Me, R/E and R/W. If I had more character slots I'd try other class combos and primaries. But Griffons really arent that hard to solo. Mike Legend

My mesmer(not monk secondary) can own all the griffons in the map in one shot. It took me quite a while to get used to that build though. unienaule

Whats Griffon Run??
DerelictBedtime
I do the run with a W/N and I've seen Warrior builds that allow you to do it without a secondary at all.

the best profession to do Griffon runs is Monk...The WaMo build pales in comparison. |
