I think you should be able to play on medium setting at 1024-768... or maybe even high settings... You should be able to find an enjoyable performance/graphical balance.

The only aspect of your computer of which is on the low-end is your videocard, however I have heard that it is playable with a 5200. The lag you experienced may have been due to server issues rather than your computer [from what I could tell, the previous event was lag-free. A few prior to it had minor lag issues].

I am on a 5200 fx also, 1.3 ghz celeron and 512 ram, at 1024x768 no aliasing get no lag.
lower the res and keep the qualty to mid-high quality in the setting in the game. You might wanna go back to the 61.77 drivers but then make sure you set the quality setting in the nividia control panel for high quaility or you lose some terrain features. Anti-aliasing lagged for me. With the newer drivers I had bugs at 2x also, the backgrounds "flash."
Otherwise have you checked your internet provider and....Are you running Spybot? Disable that program if you are using it. It totally interferes with GuildWars.
That's all i got...Cya in the game after release

Your system should not lag a great deal unless the settings are considerably higher than the system can handle or it was due to server lag. If you mean framerates dropping, I suggest reviewing your VGA drivers and system settings. If the server was the problem, there's not a lot I can suggest for that. Make sure the VGA settings are auto-detected, that will most likely give you the best frame of usable settings for your system.

Are you on dial up?

Yes, it should work. There are some known issues with the Nvidia 5000 series and some terrain features, but it should be worked out by release or on the next Nvidia driver update.
