Black dye is now worth 20k at the trader, did anyone else see this? It might just be a short period thing or it might be for the long run, all I know is that I'm not buying black dye for awhile, and something should be done about this.

There needs to be a set price for things like dye, where it can't go above that.

Why do I say this?

Because I know of a couple people at least who have 150+ black dyes just sitting in their inventory, they never use them, they just enjoy collecting black dyes specifically, so when they have the money they buy out the vendor and rarely if ever use them. That to me is bullshit, where those who actually want to use it can't afford it anymore because of their selfishness and their ability to fork over 10 dollars on ebay for some gold.

Well there are 225 slot possible on every account. So 150 or more is at least 60% of their possible inventory. So that's a lot... I know some people treat Black Dye as a commodity, and buy or store low and sell high to NPCs. I used to be one of them. I would wait for the price to skyrocket as it is now, and Flood the market with them and drive the price down for everyone else's benefit. Thus starting a trend that others would start selling them cause the price was dropping... By the time we all sold off the dyes the price would easily be down to a fair price range again. normally around 1k... Then we start all over collecting our dyes for the next big sell off... last time I did this I made a bit over 100k Gold in a few mins from the NPC... But to took me nearly a month to collect all the dye for it and another few weeks to wait for the price to go up to a good point. Looks like this is another good time to do it. Pity I didn't save up a bunch as I did last few times... But 9 chances out of 10 more then me have continued, so the price will be coming down soon enough...

Why not just market it myself you ask? Well I suppose I could, And wouldn't that be a fine how do you do, to all the good people wanting to buy at a cheaper price? By doing it this way, everyone gets a good come himance, and the only ones hurt be the inflating devils that drove the prices up in the first place... So basicly its me thumbing my nose at the big nasties and trying to line me own pocket in the process. And I'll be a banshee, if it don't throw em for a hissy, in a dither... Aint it grand?

Opps sorry... I got me an Irish Bug there for a second thinking of me last crock of gold from this time last. lol

Good thing I only used 1 of my 2 found vials on my mesmer's enchanter's stockings.

I was saving the other one for FoW armor, if I ever get there.

Personally I dont think these vendor prices reflect the true "supply and demand" if you know what I mean.

The prices will come down....Like they ALWAYS do. That is what motivates the transition from a buyers market to a sellers. It is not inflation.

"In economics, inflation is an increase in the general level of prices of a given kind. General inflation is a fall in the market value or purchasing power of money within an economy, as compared to currency devaluation which is the fall of the market value of a currency between economies. General inflation is referred to as a rise in the general level of prices. The former applies to the value of the currency within the national region of use, whereas the latter applies to the external value on international markets. The extent to which these two phenomena are related is open to economic debate.
In some contexts the word "inflation" is used to mean an increase in the money supply, which is sometimes seen as the cause of price increases. Some economists (of the Austrian school) still prefer this meaning of the term, rather than to mean the price increases themselves. Thus, for example, some observers of the 1920s in the United States refer to "inflation" even though prices were not increasing at the time. Below, the word "inflation" will be used to refer to a general increase in prices unless otherwise specified.

Inflation can be contrasted with "reflation," which is either a rise of prices from a deflated state, or alternately a reduction in the rate of deflation, that is, the general level of prices is falling, but at a decreasing rate. A related term is "disinflation", which is a reduction in the rate of inflation but not enough to cause deflation." Wikipedia "inflation

You're speaking of real world economics. Black dye in and of itself is a currency. Alot of variables apply to gw economy. Well its a game after all. Looks matter to alot of people. So something like black dye will ALWAYS have a demand. Poor sell to vendor prices are whats to blame for alot of it I believe. Black is like 23k plus at vendor but he only buys for like 8k now.

Well he used a world economics term... my quote was meant for the fact that inflation is the wrong term. Also, how different is it in an econ like this based on supply and demand....Chaos Axes can sometimes go for a couple K because people can buy them for that amount....but that is neither here nor there, my post was two fold the first was the Quote based on the fact that inflation is the wrong term to use. The second is that the prices will come down as they always do. I should have been a bit more clear of the delineation

Also with poor sale to the vendor, haven't you ever gone to a pawn shop before? Then tell me if the vendors devaluation is so outrageous....They are pawn brokers plain and simple

I think there needs to be a rebalance in the economy trader wise. Many use them as a guidline for pricing. The traders in some respects seem fair for certain thing and items. Im just glad I bought my Superior healing rune when it rocked at 6k 3 days ago. Since its been fluctuating around 11-22k. Now its like 24k

While they are at it, could the fix the fact that the traders give sod all money for items we sell them, but then turn around and sell them at a much more expensive price.
