I'm weak!? I'm a Noob!? That comes to me as a surprise...

So I'm in the Sledge Port and I say outloud. "Hey! Does anyone here want to go and hunt some of the grawl outside to get some money?" 4-5 people join then I say " Only 3 spots left" when some snobby player with full Granite armor says to me. "Ha, your weak if you cant solo farm grawl! Noob, go get levels or a life!"

Now, let me tell you how I reacted... I was revolted! I seriously think these people should be burnt, shot, banned and then shot again!

I've spent a good 300 hours on Guild wars just to get ascended! Probably even more to help out others with their money problems or level problems!

So I reply with "No, I'm not a noob. You just like to put other people down so that you look "cool" or "tough""

And what do I get? A swear and then S/He logs out!

Anyone had this problem before? Anyone think that this should be reported to AreanaNet?

A matured response would be to brush off the insult and ignore the person. They are there to grief, ignore them and they won't find it entertaining.

I have had negative reactions like that before. I *prefer* to have company, even when farming. I usually farm with my guild leader. I usually ignore them. I have over 1.5mil exp playing el/mo so I *know* I'm not a "noob". I can solo quite a bit of the game's monsters. I do 2-man UW runs. Another player's ignorant diatribe doesn't impact my ability to actually play the game.

Yeah, I love that. I'm doing something anyway, why not ask for company if I feel like it?

(Well, duh, everyone knows by the time you're in Augury henches are easier to work with most times--but this is not a job, it's a game! Some people take this VERY seriously.)

I've gotten sworn at before by someone wanting 2k to run people from grendich courthouse to yak's bend. I told everyone that the trip was worth maybe 800k at best as its not that far and there is NO stops along the way. I told him nothing he called me would ever effect my life in anyway as he was worthless and below me to even bother wasting my time and that I simply posted what I did for the benefit of others.

don't take to heart what people say to you, only you really know yourself and what you've done in the game and how hard you worked. No one can take that pride from ya.

Just ignore. There is nothing you can say to them to get them to appologise or understand. Backtalking will only cause an argument at best. Be the bigger person.

True! It is some weird religion to them. I have to admit I play way too much, however, it is not hard to be kind toward someone else.

When you get Vulger,Rude,Offensive people..then...just screen cap and put up with the hassle of sending it in. Oh...always let the Rude,Vulger,Offensive idiot KNOW that is exactly what you are going to do. Be Firm! No need to reply in their low class language. They WILL realize that you are very serious and you can almost hear the beads of sweat forming and dripping off their brows.

When I am bored or am waiting for a friend to login I will go to a older city and just for kicks help new people through missions. I am still amazed how many do not know the basics, like Calling Target. I just let them know how...without making them feel stoopid.

I was trying to get a run through the muugma jungle to the boat to Riverside, becuase I was lazy and din't want to deal with annoying Wind Riders. I found a player running people to Maguuma Stade and said I would pay him 20% more than what he was charging for the Stade run.

He said "want run to stade" and I said, "No, I already have the stade." he replied "want run to stade?" I was starting to get flustard and said "No, I already said that I have it. Will you please run me to the boat to riverside?" "dont know it" "I'll pay you more than you are for this run" "it in stade?" "No, it's to a bit to the east of it" "GO TO HELL" *Leaves group*

This can really upset a person. It's very hard to get someone who knows how to or bothers with running in those areas.

Earlier I was doing a few missions when I joined a group where one of the characters kept hecling the female avatars in the group, saying sexual stuff and then drawing male organs on the screen.

After we got out at the next mission I quit and started my own group. I said over the crowd "Need a warrior and mesmer for group". At the same time he was screaming "NEED ---ING MONK" "GET YOUR MONKEY ---ES OVER HERE MONK -----ES"

When he saw that I had started a group he said "-----" "GET OVER HERE" "YOU LEAVE ME AND JOIN THEM???" "Ill rip your face off and then sleep with a bunch of people and then everyone will think YOU A -----!!!!"

This attitude has to stop. I reported that person and will report the next. I can't wait untill I get Unyielding Aura. These people should be banned without fail. These griefers don't deserve to be playing the game when they're just there to make everyone else miserable.

The guy who has the urge to say that to someone needs to get a life because I know for a fact that when he bought the game he was a new to the game too. So forget people who talk down to new members of the game because they themselves where there at one point also. It's not like they have lvl 20 PvE chars when they buy the game so they need to get a life, or better yet move out of mommy and daddies basement and get a job.

And now that I'm in the 'Fire Isles' it seems that everyone hates me after a fight because they dont have full health or some stupid thing or another....

Yeah eh? (relocated ontario canadian here) I mean the immature acting of lots of people only suggests how young they are or if not... that growing up mentally is an issue. though I doubt there is a way to limit age as anyone can lie about it. In all honesty about monks, I've never yelled at one for being low on health at the end of a battle. I've never yelled at someone because I died and they didn't do their job. Its all good... no harm done.

the only time i yelled at a monk was because i died 6 times in rapid succession after he resurrected me MIDBATTLE, needless to say i feel bad about it now

As a mother of a 9yr old who plays, it's a concern to me that you'd want to ban him.. on the other hand, if I ever find out that my son was abusing someone like that, I'd ban him from the comp for being an idiot. (a certain amount of stupidity is ok, but abusing someone without reason is not, least not in my own family)

The only person who should be banned is you for being a complete moron, the simple fact that you asked if someone should be reported for this just shows how dumb you are. Water off a duck's back. Sticks and stones may break you bones, but names will never hurt you. Don't have such a fragile ego. When I got my first ranger to Sanctum Cay at level 9 with no runners (long time ago) I wanted some humans for the mission. Got flamed like hell for being a cheater, hacker etc. Well I just grouped up with some level 20s who weren't jerks and led them through and they all invited me to their guilds after. Moral of the story - ignore the insecure jerks and have fun, there are plenty of nice people out there.

I agree with you DC, but it's still pretty annoying especially when you help someone out and you get insulted for your effort. My case, I'm a level 20 Ranger, first char and newly ascended. I drop down to Ascalon from time to time just visit "the old stompin ground." I was at Nolani last night waiting on my brother to show when I was invited by a couple of warriors to run the mission. "What the hey." I thought, "I got time and its a pretty quick mission and I've run it a few times, I'll help these guys out." Knowing my way around the place I took point and led the group out. These two wanted to open the front gate. OK, we could have done that, but my one experince where the gate was opened on the get go and I survived Rurik wouldn't budge. So I suggested we take the back way and led out. Not a word was said until most of the fighting was done then the insults about not opening the gate started to fly. Well, I did ignore it, finished off the mission, got to Yaks Bend and swooped. At least the pick-up monk was good about it and had the common courtesy to thank me for my trouble.
