Whacked out doppleganger??? **spoiler**

Ok, my N/E went to duel my doppleganger yesterday, but he had skills that I did not!

When I went in, he started shooting ARROWS at me! Each of which hit for about 25% of my hit points!!! Needless to say, I didn't last very long. I wasn't even carrying a bow!

I re-entered a number of times with different skill sets, trying to beat him down as well as bumping up my armor against those arrows. I was doing better, then he started using HEALING SIGNET!!!!! UGH!

Is it my mistake, or is the doppleganger supposed to be a duplicate of your own character?

I finally entered with only 3 skills equipped, all elementalist. Stone daggers, obsidian flame, and one of the armor enhancements. With just these skills equipped, he no longer shot arrows at me and I was able to defeat him.

I had also previously tried doing the necro sacrifice-himself-to-death trick, but he never sacrificed, just kept shooting arrows!

Is this normal, or did something get whacked out?
Any thoughts?

edit: oops, thought u were a ranger. my bad.

use can bring in your ele skills. i'd bring flare, firestorm and meteor shower. try and cast your meteor shower first, as he wont move away from it. when he tries to cast it, just dodge it and cast your firestorm and pound away at him with flare.

Yeah, I tried bringing along meteor shower. Unfortunately he was able to distract me somehow each time. In 5 attempts, I only got meteor shower off once.

I think there must have been some error where certain skills were getting swapped out for skills of other classes. The only distracting spells I had along were meteor and meteor shower.

I have a W/Mo and i went in to fight mine and he had a storm bow, chaos axe, and a sword he would switch between... i was a hammer warrior at the time. I thought it was strange too.

ya, that was fun, wasnt it?

if you dont bring in skills with you, he'll pound away at your with those weapons. i've found he wont use them as much, if you bring in useless skills.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention his sword. He used it once on me when I ran up to him to attempt to cast Phoenix. I was chopped liver in 5 seconds.

Does the doppleganger have skill points in all areas? He sure is good with the sword and bow, when I am only Necro/Ele.

BTW, I have over 500 hp. That means his bow attack was doing >100 dmg per shot. My armor level averages 50. Can't do that without some Marksmanship skill!

the mirror isnt exactly your "mirror" in every sense. he only utilizes the same skill set that you bring in with you. i believe he's actually at least a level 24, skill wise, or something like that.

The doppel needs the good weapons to make up for its low IQ... hmm, sounds familiar somehow...

3 second to beat him down with my hammer. And i didn't bring any of my elementlist skills, since he can cast if off faster than me.

my character was a level 20 W/E

doppelganger does not mean "mirror self"....he isn't the mirror image of you. He's your "shadow walker". I.e. he mirrors your skills but not your build.

So this is normal behavior for the doppleganger then???
I still don't understand how he was distracting my spells and using healing signet.

Personally when i did it as a sword warrior, i tore him to shredded wheat

my monk on the other hand, i had a HELL of a time

He always uses an axe and bow, and from what I hear, he has all attributes at 12, even the ones you don't have. I suspect he has Droknar armor as well.
