I am currently in the market for a Headest that has very good sound quality and can work on BOTH the Playstation 2 console and the PC. I plan to use the headset with Guild Wars (Ts/Vent) And Battlefield 2. It must be compatible with BOTH games and BOTH systems. Any reccomendation? Price limit is $60.

Thanks.

Just about any PlayStation 2 microphone will work with your PC. So go nuts. I recommend the official Sony Logitech one.

Will any PC USB Headset work with the Playstation 2?

That I'm not so sure of, Rey. Most USB devices require drivers, and since there's no HDD on the PS2, you may just have to get a PS2 compatible one, possibly they cache their drivers? Correct me if I'm wroing.
(I can't remember how the USB's work on the PS2, I sold mine like 2 years ago)

Yeah they all work. Trust me I have a two PlayStation 2 mics at my house. I one came free in the Socom I box. They're all USB so do n't worry as long as you have usb ports in your comp you're ready. If you're having any problems adjusting the mic just pm me.

Do you know how they're read through the USB on the PS2? I'm kind of curious now.

Yup, I have Windows XP and at the bottom right of my screen it says New Hardware Detcted.....Logitech Microphone.

LOL You used to have a PS2 and you didn't notice the usb ports?!

edit:well they're detected as soon as plugged in. So if you're using a game that supportes the headset all you have to do is plug it in and start talking.

Your blanka avatar isn't so bad either

No, I knew it had USB ports i'm just wondering if it temporarily cache's the drivers for it, or if those mics have the drivers installed on themselves....*crosses eyes*.... confusing heh.

Dunno, about that. I don't even know if it'd work in your Ps2 either. Like I said your best bet is the official PS2 one. It's comfortable theres a mute option, volume control, and etc. But you can get whatever.

Use the ones for SOCOM... they will work.

Obviously they work with the PS2. The reason they work with the computer is.. its USB and it has its own drivers and hardware on it (little box thingy at the end).

Best of all.. u can have TS/Vent go thru the headset... and have other audio go thru ur normal speakers.

Also the SOCOM headset.. works in Linux too if anyone was to ask that.

The problem with the Socom one is that it has 1 earphone and the mic and its not 2 earphones. Instead of having a second earphone it has that plastic thing. Thats why i wanted the Plantronics. Can you reccomend one that works on a Ps2 and PC and has 2 earphones and a mic?

Don't know if Sony makes any to earphoned headsets. And if you got one that was meant for PC I don't think it'd work on your PS2 due to the tiny box driver deal.

So i have to get the Ps2 socom one in order for it to work on both the Ps2 and the PC?
