Necromancer/Warrior...Any suggestions?
final1
I find this build to be growing in popularity...so i want to ask some other fellow N/W for advice...what are the current builds floating out there?
Calibretto_9
I wouldn't say there are that many "builds" persay for the necro/warrior, because in all honesty, it is one of the few class combinations that doesn't play a specific role very well. Note that my first character was a necro/warrior, simply because I like necromancers and enjoy melee combat. Flying through PvE was simply ridiculous, because of the necromancer's death magic. If you're wanting a build for PvE, look at basically any necromancer build and just throw in a few of the warrior skills (If you want, definitely not necessary).
PvP is a completely different story, because while you'll find yourself having great success in random 4v4, you're going to have a much harder time in GvG or HoH. If you're using the warrior line to any degree, you'll be in trouble because you're not as tough as a warrior and despite the fact that vampiric builds are cool, the second you run out of energy you're in serious trouble. Or heaven forbid you run into melee combat against any smite build. *_* If you're determine to keep warrior as your secondary for PvP, I'd say run with the necromancer lineup and maybe a few shouts to help support your team (Watch Yourself, etc.).
P.S.- If you haven't gotten to the Tombs yet, you're going to find that necromancers have a real problem as of late. Nature's Renewal strips all enchantments and hexes, and makes them take twice as long to recast. Big problem for a hex relient class.

Delete it.

Or he could learn to enjoy it :/
Seriously, the game is for fun, not for victory over the world of gamers. I think that N/W can be fun to use, and I bet there are others out there as well. Some people like to play to their liking, not to min-max -_-

Yes i love my n/w very much. Basically i use my draining skills in the back row then when i see an opening i kill the target or give it even more problems when i get in close for melee combat. If you run into a warrior simply put things like life transfer and life syphon on him then just kill him with melee and touch magic.

I love my necro/wariror too. it was a hammer necro. I thought with dark fury + flurry you would be able to spam backbreaker to where he would be the best shutdown knockdown warrior. It ended up using way to much energy to keep it going. I know if you were to switch it to Warrior/Necro it would have less of a chance of working. the hardest thing was them running from me. yeah i know thats just as good cuz they cant cast while they are running. i just rather have them on the floor. if someone can figure out how to use dark fury + flurry + backbreaker to work in perfection let me know. who knows it might have worked in GvG or HoH. i never tried it in those arenas.
I switched it to this Vamp touch + devastating hammer + hammer bash + plague touch + flurry + to the limit + demonic flesh + rez sig. it wasnt a complete shutdown hammer but it was close. this build could knock down twice in about 5 seconds. the damage was ok. hammer seems to do the best damage to mages. i had blood 11+3, hammer 11, tactics 8

Sounds good.
Thing I dislike about N/W is that you're trying to take the role of a melee class that THE melee class in the game is designed for.
W/N running out of energy? You obviously don't know about Warrior OR necromancer energy buff skills.
Gladiator's armor anyone?
Just play it smart and you'll be fine with EITHER n/w OR W/N.

yeah i know about warrior skill buffs but doesnt change the fact that i has only 2 pips of energy regan. when you do run out it will take forever to gain it back. so you will be there useless since you wont be able to knockdown. since your damage isnt high cuz you specialize in knockdown. thats why n/w works better than w/n. at least for this build.
doesnt matter i ran the backbreaks combo last night and rememberd why i abandoned it. forgot that backbreaker has a long recharge time like a normal spell. so you cant spam it.

Wouldn't a N/W be a pretty good build to run against NR? If you're spreading conditions poison/disease from the necro side and bleeding/deep wounds from your warrior side... that's a lot of conditions the other team's monk now has to deal with. Sure its not spiking, but at least you're not sitting there wondering if you can do anything else besides pure weapon damage.

Necro warrior is one of those for fun things that really isn't that great. A regular warrior will outdamage you badly and vampiric/life sucking stuff sucks outside of arena (not including OOV ).
Yukito Kunisaki
You've got to remember though that in melee, Strength is the reason you hit hard, not having a ton of energy.
If you're going to be using energy skills a lot, why go melee? A warrior will out damage you, even though you have more energy than he does, he can still take the beating that point-blank dmg supposed to eat.
The 2 pips of regen, if you played it correctly, won't be a problem with the right energy management skills. Offering of Blood {E}, Warrior's Endurance {E}, and my signature favorite: Victory is Mine {E}, are all great skills a warrior can easily tap into.
I will admit though, a N/W can probably annhilate 2 enemies very quickly, sadly, he himself can get run over just as quickly... Even with 4 pips energy regen, your damage input you'll be recieving from enemies doesn't justify going melee.

Ok you missed the whole point of the build. its NOT for damage, its a knockdown build. I never claimed it would do more damage than the tipical hammer warrior build. the thread says necro/warrior any suggestions. all i said is that it will knockdowm your enemy more frequently.
warrior edurance takes a minute to recharge and is an Elite. Offering of Blood is an elite which wont let you have devastating hammer. i know you could use hammer bash and heavy blow but, that means you would have to add at least one more hammer skill. also having 2 hammer attacks that take away all your adrin will slow down your knockdown rate.
Yeah i know you could make the same build as a warrior. if you do you wont be able to use str. so the only thing it has going for it is the armor, but you wont be able to spam flurry for a long period of time. cus you will run out of energy.
Try it out as a pvp char. if you dont think that the knockdown rate is fantastic and a warrior/necro has a faster rate. Then let me know and I'll take your word and take back every thing i said, and I'll say that the warrior/necro is god

Um, if you want to make a pure denial/disruption character go play ranger or mes (ranger is better in current NR state). You can't deny multiple people as a hammer war.
Hammer wars are not just there for disruption but also damage. They don't get the dps of a buffed axe/sword war but their dps/spike damage is still nice. And the fact that you can solo a monk in 5-7 seconds is also useful.

Ever considered that maybe, just maybe, Warriors have adrenaline for a reason? Ever thought that maybe Warriors don't have big energy pools and 4 pips because they bash shit with weapons and don't *need* any spells?

I've got a W/N and it's not bad, but if you really want to be a N/W, a guildie who's a N/W uses Blood Magic, specifically Life Transfer, Life Siphon, and Well of Blood.
Wields a Sword and a Offhand Energy+ Item.
Uses Swordsmanship, Blood Magic, Tactics.
Energy+ Armor if you have trouble with Energy with either W/N or N/W

I've got a neat Necro Warrior idea:
I really liked Virulence, giving a conditioned foe 2 more conditions, so how does a necro give conditions? well you can try to mess around with signet of agony and give it away with plague touch, but that is lame. I like using the warrior for Gash and Sever Artery, and sprint. This is a hit and run build only, no messy business in trying to pretend to be a warrior, I still love the idea of an uber quick knockdown - very cool. Then I lay down the Virulence and maybe a vampy touch while im getting out of the fray with sprint. Very fun to use, to save on energy but take a bigger chance (for the stout of heart), swap vampy touch with touch of agony.

Most people don't understand the point of a N/W. In PvE, with a few sword skills and Blood Magic along with a few curses, can tank as well if not better than your apparently standard W/Mo. And save the rest of your team in the process, instead of having to run away as a W/Mo and use Rebirth on everyone you failed to protect.
In PvP, you face opponents who are supposed to be intelligent, but unless you're doing organized PvP or GvG, I've found arena humans to be dumber than AI. A N/W in any PvP but organized will rip through most classes, by dint of hexes and conditions. Heck, worried about the warrior? Hit him with an Enfeeble. And keep doing it while you Final Thrust him! Casters can be ripped apart by a good N/W much quicker than a "ME SMASH" W/x build IME.

Hi guys i dont really post much on the forums because im new and dont really have too much advice but my first char was a n/w and i use a build that is ok in arenas. Skills are: Demonic Touch, Vampiric Gaze, Vampiric Touch, Life Transfer, Shadow Strike, Plague Touch, Bonettis Defence, Rez Signet. I use one of those very good collectors items that boost your energy 27. The idea is to use the life stealing skills to do the bulk of your damage and if u get bleed on u or something use plague touch. Then when your energy gets to 0 u turn up bonettis defence and start melee attacking. Hopefully somebody would have tried to attack u refilling your energy and you use the life stealing skills again and by then the enemy should be dead or close to dead. This build is still under some work. Hope i was some help to you. 2nd or 3rd post for me
ElderAtronach
/W for bonetti's is not a bad idea if you're getting attacked. However, it really does depend on how often you get attacked by melee guys. Besides, a necro anything has access to the best warrior debuffs in the entire game.
Calibretto_9
Yeah, using some of the non-attack skills, like Elder said, could be a reason to choose warrior as your secondary. Bonetti's is a great energy builder, and a few of the other stances will help keep you alive, but here's the thing. Bonetti's really helps against warriors, and most likely as a necromancer you've already screwed the warriors over with either enfeeble, faintheartedness, or both. That kind of negates the need for a stance in the first place, unless you're really needing the energy bonetti's gives. If you're wanting to be a melee class, go warrior. Take it from people who know, like, say, me. I played a necro/warrior as my first character, and I now almost exclusively play me warrior/necro.
A warrior/necro will outdamage any necromancer on any day of the week. Heck, a warrior of any type will pretty much outdamage anything. A necromancer is best running support, dropping hexes to hinder and debuff the enemy, giving your team excess energy, and taking advantage of corpses. But the real kicker is this: Currently the necromancer is a gimped class in any PvP situation. Wanna know why? The necromancer's primary attribute, Soul Reaping, has no skills to choose from which will give you an advantage over a non-necro primary. Soul reaping, while an excellent energy battery in PvE, is awful in PvP. You'll start the match, drop your heavy spells, and then sit there and wait as your energy recharges. You could hurt yourself for energy, or you could just choose an ele primary for more energy.
Point is, necromancers are a great class on paper, but are currently really suffering from several problems. If you're in PvE, they're absolutely fantastic. But if you plan to do any PvP'ing, you probably want to look to another class or be ready to simply give teammates your blood and blow up bodies.

going 15-0 or better in team arena's w/ my guild usually consist of one n/w... and he definatly carries his weight.
Calibretto_9
Yeah, I can understand on a 4 vs 4 setting how a necromancer could pull his own weight. Only thing is, you're probably going to find something else would fill his slot a whole lot better. I'm not downing the necromancer, so don't take offense. I have no intention to insult the builds or the time spent by people into their necromancer. I, personally, was quite frustrated when I learned after my first character that not every class really is effective as advertised. I'm personally hoping, and have been hoping, that certain changes will be made to make the necromancer more effective.
I say that people stop crying nerf and start asking for ways that the developers can improve other classes so that no one is brought down - Everyone is just brought up to the same level. This needs to happen especially to the necromancer, who is currently pulling up in 6th place when it comes to class effectiveness.
