The Point of Origin for PvP Complaints

wow, i read the OP's post thinking there might actually be something new in there - but there isn't. it's just another "We want UAS" thread..... /sigh

Perhaps I can't read my own writing very well... but I don't see anywhere in my orignal post where I advocate for UAS. If you can find that, I'd appreciate it if you would point it out. My thesis is that the PvP community is unhappy because of misconceptions and miscommunications between them and ANet, and the perceived lack of effort on ANet's part to give attention to their complaints. At no point do I advocate any specific "solution" to the problem, much less something like UAS because ANet has said specifically that UAS will never happen.

I mean no offense to PvP but most would play the game and leave even if there was UAS. There's nothing wrong with that, games come and go and as much as I liked other games I left them as well.
I think it's just a sounding board for most. 700 hours is ridiculous. The first run through takes a bit of time but even you can't call your lack of direction part of the grind.
The actual grind is about 40-50 hours, based on doing the skill quests and missions with two characters and switching their classes after ascension. That's a lot of hours, and that doesn't mean they'd have everything, just that they'd be able to get all of the most common skills and any builds specific skills.
Who knows what build might come up that you'd have to get a skill for but nothing would take a long time given faction in PvP and the map unlocked at all mission points.

I took so long because I like the game. I didn't mind playing through the entirety of the content 3 times. I took my time, I took in the scenery, I helped others. I guess I am more upset about everything that has been nerfed causing the drop rates to completely suck. I really should have unlocked a lot with all that time playing in PvE, but I didn't. In my time playing, I unlocked absolutely no max item upgrades. I did unlock Superior Vigor. That was it. I mean, come on, really. PvE'rs should have better drop rates instead of having to go grind it out factionwise for unlocks, which they can only use with PvP characters anyway. I want to bring my beloved PvE character into GvG's but they just don't have the juice my PvP characters can have because all of the max item unlocks I have gotten are for my PvP characters. If I wanted the same power for my PvE character, I would have to go grind solo somewhere to hopefully get something or farm for ridiculous amounts of gold to go buy it. I don't want to have to farm, I don't want to be forced into an endless grind to get random crap over and over again. I wanted to get a fair amount of rare items and unlocks while I played through the game like it was meant to be played. Is that too much to ask for ?

Wait... Are you saying that... You don't want to grind trying to get the necissary resources to compete?
That's a novel idea.
That's a novel idea.

You were off on this one. Believe me, I doubt anyone could so eloquently speak for you as well as you do for yourself....and probably wouldn't want to either. Now, everyone, back to topic please. Thanks! |
