Has Anet ever mentioned if our characters 'go on' to chapter 2?

I apologize if this has been asked before but I'm curious. When chapter two comes, will we have to create totally new characters or will our present ones be able to go on to the next chapter. I was just wondering because of the possibility of new races.. like if we would be able to change our characters to a new race or have to create a new one... I don't suppose there has been any info on this?

No apologies and an EXCELLENT question. I would love to know that as well. If they DON'T go with us, we need more storage space.

I would assume that they do since in one FS friday it was stated that there would be content for non-ascended chars as well as ascended. I would take from this that our characters that we're currently doing nothing with(pve completed) will be playable since they felt a need to say you didn't need to be ascended.

It's going to be a free update. I don't know too much about it really, but I believe the name of the new area is Sorrow's Furnace (corrections appreciated). I am also fairly confident that there will be another puchasable expansion after it.

No. The free update is simply just that: a free update.

Chapter 2 is going to be the first expansion pack ANet releases in early 2006. Their expansions are called chapters because, unlike other games, they plan to have around equal amount in the chapter/expansion as the original game (Chapter 1).

No, you don't HAVE to buy Chapter 2. You can continue playing original Guild Wars. But all those new areas will be off-limits to you. But hey, I'll bring you back a cool-looking new axe from there.

If there are new races I would most def. start over quick with one of em'. Oh and some people are saying its a free update and the other half are saying you have to purchase it. Sombody fill me in.

Chapters are expansion packs. You pay for them. People are getting chapters confused with updates. New features are free. Chapters are entirely optional in nature and contain new content and spells. Anet has said that any new spells will be balanced with the old ones (no NR comments, please) so you won't need xpacs to compete.

And please, don't capitalize the first letter of every word.
