Farming.. Whats the trick?

I'm really embarrased to ask, but I've come across people mentioning how they farm solo, how you round up large batches of mobs...

I'm not entirely sure how to do that.

Well, not even. I dont have a clue at all!

Could some kind soul clue me in? What kind of build would I be looking at? And, how would I do it?

I'm playing a W/E right now, if anyone has any advice for me.

I know its probably a really silly thing to ask, but there it is.

Find a skill and abuse the hell out of it. Protective Bonds is one possibility...

Its not a silly thing to ask, many people would like to know how to farm solo. There are many variants of W/Mo and Mo/something. Some people have even posted thier builds on this site. Here's a link for a couple.

What you should think about is a farming build that doesn't involve /mo in it ^_^

trick is to use the best soil possible and make sure your crops are well watered!

I was impressed with myself the first time I killed all those cave trolls with my Ranger, despite the fact that it took me a good 20 minutes. Little did I know then that a monk could do the same thing in all of 2 minutes, if he really sucked.

w/e isnt much of a farmer, considering its defensive skills are crap compared to other builds. A lot of people use W/Mo to smite large mobs. (symbol of wrath, zealot's fire, enchantments etc) A decent smite build for w/mo should be able to take lvl 20-24 mobs.

But how do u maintain ur health when u have attributes spread out in smite, weapon mastery and healing?

do W/Mo Smiters use protection spells instead of healing??

Sure, there are good farming builds that don't require monk skills - but the Mo/Me, Mo/W etc. is still the most versatile package and remains the standard by which all farmers are compared.

All hail the might monk farmer!

Most solo runs are against large numbers of melee mobs. Balthazar's Spirit gives you infinite energy under those circumstances.

The nice thing about monks is their range of skills that deliver damage in a 360 degree radius combined with their heal/protect skills. That's what makes them the profession of choice for farming. A warrior is ideally suited for 1 or 2 opponents at a time. Elementalists have the firepower but protection/healing is problematic. As I said before - there are certainly terrific warrior farmers and elem farmers - but the monk is a natural for farming.

But you are doing flesh golems... they come in little packs of 3-4 most often. You might have some trouble taking 10-15 lvl 24's at a time, which a W/Mo can do easily.

I can challenge 12 and far upwards of lvl 20s with my w/n.

Don't say monk is the be all and end all of farming.

I will admit, they're damn good, but vs. enemies that rip enchants off you, they're lunchmeat...

Whereas vs. my hex/condition farming W/N, I farm what monks do not. PvE enemies can't remove mass condition AoE skills. Thank goodness.
