Does guild wars include any kind of crafting? i.e can weapons/armor/magic etc be made by any one...are there trade skills/profession that can be used.

Cheers.

All the more impressive (and better) Armour sets need to be crafted. I'm not entirely sure about weapons but I know some can be made.

So you start out with basic items....and new items are bought or looted?

You loot materials wich you then salvage into raw materials. Then you just go talk to a crafter npc and he will charge raw materials and gold for your armour.

Thats basically it, nothing fancy at all.

Edit: The crafter is a NPC, you don't really make stuff with a tradeskill. And everything the NPC crafts are bound to you, so others can't use it.

So you have to go out and collect every thing u need and then go back to the npc...sounds like a waste of time to me....

Is it easy to find out what items are need to craft weapons and armor?

You have to do missions to progress through the story and access new areas. And in these missions monsters will drop stuff you can salvage. And at the crafter NPC it will say what you need.

Example. You may kill a monster and get a chestplate, but you can't wear this, you have to salvage it for materials, then you use those at a crafter.

As you progress through the storyline, you tend to collect enough gold and materials in the process to uprade your armor as needed. You will probably need to change armor twice before ascension. Do so when you can afford it, and don't worry about it before.

Weapons: Just use the best you find.

There are no crafting skills and no player housing (apart from your guild hall). Guild Wars is a combat game, not a life simulator.

That doesn't mean houses can't be implemented. And Guild Wars is what you want it to be... whatever makes it fun for you. Just because the combat is great, doesn't mean someone else isn't going to use it as a chat room. Maybe the dev's kept this in mind. And jimmyh, it is the same for any other game. As you go through the missions/areas not only do you become more skilled (levelling) you also acquire better equipment... it's the basis for any story line oriented game. The PvP realm is different, maybe someone can describe that position better.

Going back to an NPC is a few second process though, its not like you have to run through hours of land to get back to town or something.

if you would like to own your own home, i suggest you consider purchasing your own Guild Hall. otherwise, no player owned property in-game. this game is supposed to minimize the grind, not reward people for it..
