well this is the campfire so I thought I'd tell my tale in a video format. I made a video from clips of the last Beta Weekend Event. It's posted on my guild website www.asharak.org ... but you can view it here ...

Asharak Beta Weekend Video

Of course its nothing compared to the guildwars movies but its pretty good

Thanks and hope you like it,

You are probably missing video CODECS, anytime I get this problem I pop over to www.divx.com and download their latest free player. The CODEC's are usually fixed after install.

I just downloaded the clip and played it and sure enough Divx appears there.
Should fix ya right up.

Dont mean to be rude, but that was some crappy FPS you had goin there. Plus there really wasent a story or anythin, you just threw in 3 clips of battle, and lined your mates up for a shot or 2. Music was a bit dry too. Overall, it was OK.

Personally I think you're being a little too harsh. My main rule for thumb when critiquing someone else’s work is, be fair, but don't be too harsh unless you can base your opinions on personal talent (aka if you cant make something better, best keep your mouth shut).

Yes the frames per second were a little low sometimes, but it was still well put together I believe. Music set the tone for any movie far more than I think some people let themselves believe, and the musical choice in this film, I think, Helped to let us forget there is no 'story or anythin'. Given the fact that everyone’s working with footage taken from a handful of beta events, you cant exactly make a 'story'. A Timeline perhaps, but not a story.

Obviously someone put time and effort into this, and the results they got are above average compared to some stuff we've been shown. Personally, I liked it, and I think you should try to be a little more fair with you look at others peoples work.

Kudos Stumpy

Please feel free to send in what works you have done. I've got this odd feeling that you couldn't do anywhere near as good. Sorry... guess I should be nice too. Criticizing works is for shameless people that don't have any more imagination than a rock. Until they can prove better, as Nascent mentioned, they better go find a dark corner and hide.

Personally... that was a pathetic attack on one man's work at piecing together a short video on what he had available.

Stryker... please put together a storyline (from your betas) and present them to us so we know how godly you really are.

Your critique is welcomed Stryker. And to answer some of your questions
1. I used 30fps compressing each clip which was my err ... just first time using FRAPS and a trial version of FronttoBlack ... not a very good program.

2. yeah ... I kinda travelled with them most of the weekend mate so I hadn't the time to catch you on film. lol.

3. ... the music is from Edgen, his name is Justin and he is a famous composer whose is a friend and accquaintance of Jeremy Soule ... his work can be viewed at www.edgen.com then tell me that his music is dry again.

But I'll keep the crtique in mind as I do want to improve. Simply making this in 1 day from way too many clips was interesting and fun.

EDIT ----

I forgot to say thanks to you Nascent, Darkmane, and Bahala. I do enjoy the critique because I can only best myself (especially with Maya) this movie was just a highlight reel saying thanks for the betas. no real story ... just a comemerative thing ... I didn't really see a story in the firework video ... but I could be wrong ... wasnt that similar ... just a nice video?
