I've done Dunes and Elona, now down to doing Thirsty to ascend. Been having problems with it (some just me being beat by the mission, a couple due to GWars crashing my comp), then finally a few minutes ago I beat the first Boss group. I get the text showing my quest log updated. I checked my log, it showed the first Boss group defeated. But nothing happened. Then the timer froze at 10:18. The game didn't freeze, or anything, just nothing happened. I piddled around for awhile, then finally gave up and F12'ed my way out.
Was I supposed to -do- something at this point for the next match to appear, or did GWars just have an internal hiccup, or what? I'm going to keep trying, hopefully either someone will post something enlightening here or whatever the problem is won't show up on my next run. *scratches head in bemusement*
Problem In Thirsty River

You mean the gate did not open?
The Hero sould follow you and open the gate to the next arena, did you talk to the hero so he would follow you?

If you mean the hero that accompanies you into the fight, he didn't do anything. I tried clicking on him afterwards, and he just gave me the 'I'll stay here', and 'I'm following Vorlin Varelse' toggles of behaviour. He didn't open any gate.
Drakron
Well he sould, the timer stopping when the groups are killed is normal.
Perhaps you did not make him follow you to the exit gate.

Where is the exit gate? Am I supposed to walk back to some previous point in the map that I passed before? I walked around inside the arena, and in the area outside where I first met the Hero, do I need to backtrack further than that?

If you would like help my ranger can be available in for a bit

you go further into the zone, not back
Aphalite
After you kill the first boss, go inside the little lair, turn around, and look to your left, there should be a wooden gate that's shaped like teeth, lead the hero up to it and he will perform a ritual to open it
trelloskilos
Like Aphalite says, the gate to the next zone is just to the left as cou come out from where the boss/enemy priest camps.
There is the occasional problem where somethimes the GH just stands by the open door and doesn't follow through, but usually after a few seconds of hanging around or running rings round him, he gets the idea.
Thirsty River is IMO the easiest Ascension mission. As long as everybody in your party knows which group to attck, and also is capable of waiting in multiples of 2 minutes, the mission is a breeze!

Thirsty River is also quite easy with henchmen. I've found it easier than real people every time I've tried it.

Thanks everyone, I think the game just got confused. Sometimes GW loses track of quest progression. I've had it happen before a couple of times. The first time was back in pre-searing when Devona said 'Follow me!' to attack the bridge grawl and then just stood there. Another time (in the same area) I got the '3 bees' quest but no honeycomb had popped on the ground. Just gotta shrug, roload, and try again.
Fun game, but lots of rough edges even after all the patching. I'm still waiting for the GWars team and nVidia to get together and fix the 'crash on exit' random bug, along with a couple of other crash bugs. Ah well.
