I have a W/R and I find him awesome in PvE as most things don’t even scratch him – but when I’m playing in the arena and going melee with classes like ele’s and monks I don’t seem to hurt them very much and 7/10 times I lose to them in PvP because of this, does anyone know why my hits only do low dmg to these classes as I hit the creeps out side of town for 25-30 damage but im lucky to get over 10 on most people in the arena,

outside of what town.......creeps? some monsters just have junk armor class
while most serious players are using armor...maxed armor at that
have you considered spells like shielding hands, protective bond/spirit on those. Since you are hitting the casters first the monks simply throw down some prot/heal on the guy your hitting.
btw W/R = good survival build, but what good is the warrior that lives forever but cant kill anything?

A solid team will have a couple spells to make warriors rather... weak. Typically a counter is to make sure your group has enchantment and hex removal skills.
If your team has none in their disposale, you'll have to resort to picking your targets wisely. Do this by changing targets (AS A TEAM!) till you find a soft enough target your team can kill. This hinders a protection casting monk as he wastes his spells on the previous target you were wailing on forcing him to wait the recast time.

you have to try different skills, different strategies. When I first went into arenas, I had to change up about half of the skills I used.
zenny made a great suggestion, and one people overlook. Take out the weakest link. That doesn't mean the weakest member always, but the weakest at the moment. Sure, they may rez them, but at some point your gonna be up one person. Once their team starts dropping, it's just a matter of time. Not always but your odds of winning improve.
And avoid the allure of the 'let's get the monk' mentality. That never works. Too basic a strategy in a pug arena situation.

Exactly, I have ran into situations where I my team couldn't kill the monk, so we went and hit an elementalist or something else and he dropped in seconds.
It may not cut out on their healing, but it does hurt their damage and gives the ele a Death Penalty (Always nice even if they rez him). Monk is usually the best and main target, but it's best to go around that sometimes like Arturo said.
So keep that in mind and practice finding an oppurtune target if the monk won't just drop.
On a side note, if you're using a sword, try ditching it for a hammer or my favorite, an axe. Should raise damage, but remember that in pvp, a warrior isn't just for damage, they have other great roles to fill in ^_^
