I am Necro and I am tired of people not letting me into their PvP or PvE groups. Could you maybe help me come up with a good build and a good spiel to promote myself. I know Necros are good, but nobody else realizes this. I am tired of people not seeing the value of a Necro.

ignore all the idiots that want 2 heal monks minimum, and wait for a group that is clever enough to value a necro.
you dont want to play with pll that you need to convince for an hour first ...

best would be to say what necro you are IMO.
like "curses/blood necro with "blood ritual" looking for group".
everyone clever enough to know how powerful curses can be and how useful the blood ritual is, will not ignore you completely.
same goes for every other combination (while "death" has kind of a bad rep in pvp for some reason...)

be patient.
perhaps you will bhave to wait a bit longer for a group, but thats worth it IMO if you avoid the "2 W/Mo's and 2 heal Monks are needed in every group" idiots that way.

It's not a problem for my necro/mesmer using infused droknar scars. I normally play support by slowing mobs to 50% attack speed (this REALLY minimizes casualties) via Shadow of Fear, crippling chain healing mobs via Diversion/Chaos Storm, and nuking non-stop thanks to almost unlimited mana with the elite Offering of Blood. However, you're right, not everyone knows necro potential in PvE.

I have been in missions where the monks bailed and I have single handedly kept our group alive. A necro, might not be a healer, but you can consider us 'medics'.

Offering of Blood is the best elist in the game. Infinite mana.

My two cents:

* Necros work best in the tombs. I don't think necros are suited for the other arenas like Competition Arenas, Team Arena, Ascalon arena etc.

* Yes necros are good, especially in tombs.

* Death necros are very popular in the tombs. A little build:

Max: Soul Reape + minor
Max: Death Magic + superior
Tainted / Rotting Flesh / Putrid / Bond Fiend / BOTM / Verata's Sacr + aura and res signet.

Good luck!

People never find the worth in anything besides "tanks" and "healer monks." They need to watch other players in action to fully appreciate their worth.

I've seen countless Necromancer's lay down the law in PvE and in PvP, using all sorts of powerful skills. I don't remember the names of said skills, but I know one of them was "Well of Blood." That skill alone is pretty handy, giving life-regen to anyone inside of the circle.

Summoning minions is also fairly handy, giving the team some extra fire power along with some of the Necro's awesome hexes.

All in all, I don't see why so many people pass over the Necromancer. It's a well versitile class and virtually compliments any other class as well.

My theory is, when you find a group that appreciates you, kill the ones that didn't. Muahaha.

I used to think that Necromancers weren't to powerful when I first played. But once I started getting owned by them in PvP, GvG, etc... I created/tried my own and loved using them.

Simply put. People don't appreciate them because they see that Necromancers have no real "strength" to them. As in Warriors have strong physical attacks, Elementalists use strong magic, stuff like that. They seem them as "oooo they can only raise corpses and that's it lololol!!!" But a well experienced Necromancer can make a big difference in battle.

Exactly. Later on in the game, Necro's begin to learn some pretty handy skills which make all the world of difference in a group, PvPing or otherwise. A skilled Necromancer can be quite handy with a quite tasty set of skills, making them great attackers and defenders.

Other players need to look outside the box -- a strong Warrior can still succumb to a well-played, well-balanced Necro; or any other class for that matter.

My Nec/Mes is asked for almost as much as my warrior. With maxxed blood and using well of power. The group hits and kills the first one, then stands in the sell, and keeps knocking them down.

Even when overwhelmed, as long as one dies, your entire group benifeits.

I find all classes both useful and unnecessary. The absence of some however (mainly monks and tanks) need to be compensated (no monk = you should have a couple tanks and heavy dmg dealers, no tanks = you should have a couple monks and heavy dmg)

I like my necro, sometimes I have a bit of trouble getting into a group but no more than I did with my ele. The only char I've had that could walk into any PUG was my monk.

I frequently invite Necros to missions because of the animate horror/minion skill. But I don't see how they'd be too useful in arenas. I'd still invite them if they wanted in badly.

I am really tired of defending necros constantly. But, I think hands down they are the most versatile class in the game. I have every necro skill except for two of them. I've been using necros nonstop. I've used all the other classes, but none of them have nearly the amount of capabilities as the necro. You name it, the necro can do it. They can do extreme amounts of spike damage, extreme degen, self heals and regen, team and self energy management, tons of hexes, minion raising, wells for team support, condition spreading and condtion transferring, and finally interruptions like mark of subversion and spinal shivers.

If you need a role in a team, then necro can fill it. The necro skills can be used to fill any role in a team. I have tanked with a necro before better than any actual warrior can using Aura of the Lich/Life Siphon/Blood Renewal. As long as there is no degen, you can't be killed. Need spike damage? Go with the blood line and use skills like Shadow strike (which is one of the best spells to lead off with and does 100+ armor ignoring damage), and vampiric gaze.

Hands down necros can own any class if built right.

P.S.- Don't under estimate Soul Reaping, in PvE or PvP. If you say that there are not enough dead bodies in PvP for it to become useful, then either 1) you don't have enough in Soul Reaping or 2) your build sucks because you can't make dead bodies.
