With all the looking into I've done on Guild Wars, the one thing I cannot seem to locate is a good resource for the current game interface. I understand that it's still in a beta stage, and therefore in testing, but since we're nearing completion, I'd like some info on this.
Is it an intuitive setup? How does it work? How does it compare with, say, "World of Warcraft?"
And heck, if you know of any screens or even a good place online that already explains the interface, then by all means, pop me a hyperlink!
Thanks much!

The interface in Guild Wars has recently undergone some major changes. The BWE was the first time people in general got to play with it, and I know a bunch didn't even notice that there's a new Customize feature for it. Nearly every interface object you see on the screen can be changed to how you like it now. You can move interface objects to anywhere on the screen, change the size to however big or small you want them, and in some cased you can even change them from a horizontal to a vertical view. The Weapon Switch can be a 1x4 row like it is by default, a 2x2 square, or a 4x1 column.
It is still very much a work in progress, so expect more improvements to the system. I think its a great improvement over what they had before since you can change so much. A few things that I felt needed some work were the Friends and Guild windows, which don't have a hotkey at the moment. The Inventory window could use some fine tuning, and I would like different ways to sort skills in the Skill window. Saving more than one interface design you come up with (and having them work on all your chars so you don't have to change it on each char seperately) would be nice too.
Hopefully we can get some screenies on the main site here of the interface from the last BWE and some details about it. Maybe even shots of the old one and how they compare? I haven't played WoW yet, so I can't comment on that. Hope what I answered is what you were looking for, I just assumed you meant the visual interface stuff since that's one of the bigger changes since the last BWE

I'm currently working on an article that covers the new interface for the |D1E| site, with screenshots. Basically you can resize, move, and hide all the interface windows, buttons, and displays except the party window and the district menu.

Thanks, that was informative stuff.
But I was also wondering about some of the more basic control stuff, such as....
How do you interact with other characters in the game? Do you just use the keyboard arrow keys to move your character?
How do you attack? Do you click on an attack button on-screen, and then click on the opponent of choice? Or do you click on the opponent of choice and choose from a menu? That sort of thing. Is control simple and easy or are there some kinks to work out still?
I apologize if this is total "n00b"-speak, but I have never played an MMORPG of any kind, sans a few minutes of Final Fantasy XI Online, so please bear with me.
Thank you very much for any further help you could provide on this matter.

It's fairly intuitive, you can either click on the target and choose a skill to attack, hit your space bar for basic attack. You can also use some keyboard commands which are mappable by you.
As far as movement goes, you can either click on the ground and your character will move there or you can use the wasd keys.

Thank you much! I appreciate it. I wish there were more GW articles for total MMORPG newbies like myself. Everyone assumes people getting Guild Wars are "in the know," it seems. And I am in the dark reading much of the material. Thanks for the feedback!

Another way to move your character forward is by holding down the left and right mouse buttons. I think this is probably the least used/known way, but its there for those who want to use it. You turn my using the mouse, its pretty easy.
The controls are pretty straight forward as far as the basics go. You should get the hang of them within the first 10 minutes of playing the game. The rest of the controls you'll get easy enough as well, and you can change a bunch of it to how you like it too.

Also when you get use to moving your character you might want to learn how to autorun. This is done by tapping your "move forward" key twice.
Does anyone know or can anyone speculate if there will be UI mod tools, considering last beta you could customize your interface freely. Wondering if someone would make a mod for it and also if it would be allowed by arenanet..
