I've been thinking recently, and I was wondering how people feel about possibly extending the "Unlock" function to PvE as well. It would be very interesting and neat to play through the game on a low level character with the skills I worked hard to unlock on my Ascension character.
This would also make Secondary switching much easier, seeing as I could change my Me/E to a Me/Mo and actually have skills. (Granted, this is a first time around scenario) And seeing as I earned those skills, I would see it as fitting.
I think it would add a lot of replay to the game and really 'encourage' secondary switching, which leads to more variety and less 'want' for "another character creation slot."
I do understand there are probably many PvP drawbacks, and/or farming of Pre-Searing and so on and so on. But I ask, what do you think?
Replay Value: Unlocking Skills for PVE

Iceciro
Nukes the pre-arch Arenas all to bloody hell, rapes the missions, screws up the difficulty....

Maddox, I do believe Iceciro just owned your idea. This is terrible to propose... Did you even think of what would happen before you opened your mouth?
The whole point of losing your skills when you switch your Secondary Profession is to show the risk involved, "are you willing to sacrifice all of these skills for a new set?".

Actually, yes I thought about what would happen before I "opened my mouth."
If you'll note my last statement, I recognized that there would, in fact, be many problems with the idea. You may think he "owned" my idea, but I was in fact looking for actual feedback and not just a slew of things I already knew.
And Zell, you don't sacrifice any skills when you switch secondaries. When you switch, you no longer have that skill set, but once you switch back, you have them all again. This proposal would affect the NEW skill set, and not some sort of sacrifice of the old.
Hrm. These skills could perhaps be disable in Arenas. It wouldn't be too complicated. But the thing is, I'd like to play the game again and just own the hell out of it. I've put in the time and effort to get all the skills, and now I want to see them kick some ass.
Granted, I could always just map travel back to the first Mission. So, perhaps this idea is too idealistic. But in the end, I'd like some more replay value for new characters and thought this would provide some of that to a degree.
Did you even read my post before you opened yours?
I wasn't "proposing" anything. I was merely asking for some feedback on an idea I'd had for a while. So why not give me some actual feedback instead of being an ass about it?
