The name is unimportant... you can create PvP, PvE and Devotion... Devotion characters come with a host of advantages and 4 disadvantages
Advantages
00) max -40 dp (and -10 per death)
00) max +15 morale
00) +10% life
00) +10% energy
00) -25% fee for all armors
00) special areas available only to this character
00) special armors reserved for only this type of character
00) extra attribute points (enough to max out 3 attributes fully)
The Disadvantages
00) Primary class only, no secondary class available (hence, a devoted necro, devoted ele, etc.)
00) The same "too soon after combat" restriction to identifying and salvaging is also applied to mapping
00) You cannot map while dead and waiting for a resurrection
00) If you die without a player resurrection (ie. res at the shrine or whole party dies) your character is dead and no longer playable. For you, there is no resurrection shrine. This does not include instances of a mission-critical npc dieing which results in the whole party's death, but refers only to when you are taken down by an enemy
Think of the coolness of having an ascended player that has never died! Please, no mentions of D2's hardcore, pretty retarded to off a good idea because someone else has also done it (do believe that mages, ele's, necros and in fact 99% of the game has already been done).
I would totally create a character for this mode. And those who used a character for this mode would become very skilled because they would have no room for error in dieing. You can't rely on resses cuz what if the only ones who have a ressurection skill are also dead?
New character creation mode: devotion

Otherwise, it's a pretty good idea. I like some of the ideas that I didn't specifically comment on, and I would enjoy a character of this type, after some severe tweaking of this proposed idea.

Let's make a character and go to a place I'll die for sure and lose all my work! Yay!

To Zell: Actually Burger King made a sandwich called the "Big King" which was thier version of the Big Mac... the only really difference was they took out te bread in the middle :P
The overall idea the OP proposes is an interesting one, but the details would have to be changed a bit. IF ANet decided to do this, I'd give it a shot
