I had the same problem too. But I unsinstalled BF2 That way you can rollback to older version of the drivers.
This question was already answered when BF2 got out. You could have search the forum for this question.

The only two games I have installed on my computer are GW and BF2. Both seem to be working fine using the latest Nvidia drivers.

For all people with this problem:
I had the exact same problem.
Uninstall the 77.20 drivers the regular way. Right click on my computer>properties>hardware>device manager
Go to display adapters and uninstall the driver for your video card.
Download Driver Cleaner at Guru3d.com and use the program. In the drop down list, select nVidia. The cleaning process should begin.
After this, your resolution may be a little funky, but go to the Bf2 folder and install the drivers again.
This worked for me

If your using a 6600gt or greater or a 7800gtx or even a sli setup. Try using the beta drivers.
They work fine for me with my sli 6600gt setup.
My watercooled SLI rig:
Case: Thermaltake Armor
Watercooling: Asetek's new Waterchill w/ dual 120mm radiator and 2 GPU waterblocks
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200 Venice Core @ 3.0ghz Muliplyer x10
Memory: G.Skill DDR 4800 Timings @ 2.5-3-3-7 1T 600Mhz
Graphics: 2 x Asus 6600GT TOP TD @ 600Mhz gpu/1300Mhz Memory in SLI
Mother Board: ASUS SLI Deluxe
Hard Disk Drives: 2 x Samsung 200GB SATA II w/ NCQ in RAID 0
3dMark05 Score: 8230
Note: I built this system souly on testing its overclocking potential. Amazing that I got over 8000 on 3dmark05, which is a higher score than the average system with one 7800gtx.
This is my ~$3000 budget SLI system that is completely badass.

I run both just fine, but I also have an older video card so I keep my setting down on BF2. But in one year, I will have the mother of all gaming machines. Putting it together myself, and planning on spending $3k in parts. But I also am 33 and work about 50-60 hours a week, so you youngsters should not feel bad. Us old guys have money, but no time, you young guys have time, but no money. Heck of a trade of ain't it.
Killion
3K isnt something you can buy a master of gaming machines.
You'd have to shell out 6K for that.

well, i un-installed BF2 and deciede it wasnt worth GW
so i stick with GW and good ol' BF1942, or desert combat final rather, i r0xx0rs at that ;D
:Edit: the 77.56 drivers seemed to work fine for anyone else having this problem

Maybe if you go retail, 6k.
But on your own, 3k will get you everything you need, except for a monitor, which I already have.
