Can someone please clarify?
I received the Guild Wars game today in the mail as I pre-ordered, and while reading through it I found something contradictory.
On page 36 it reads:
"... In the final years of the last Guild War, the people of Rin looked to a soldier named Adelbern, a simple man of humble origins, who rallied the people with his courage and cunning and steeled them not only against the guilds of Orr and Kryta but also against the terrors of the Charr.
The sudden destruction of most of the kingdom during the Searing has taken much of the fight out of the man now known as King Adelbern...."
However on page 50 it reads:
"Descended from the great King Doric, King Adelbern is well-liked by the citizens of Ascalon....""
So what is it? Was King Adelbern a former peasant, or descended from Kings?

Well, my guess would be that he was a peasant who had a smattering of royal blood from dozens of generations back.
-All in all, it's likely that the second quote was an oversight on the part of writers. In-game there's some hints as to Adelburn's history, and everything I've seen on that part refers to his rise to power as a result of his actions in the Guild Wars.

Not unlike the lineage of Jesus. Born of the seed of David, but born into a peasant's house.
