I would like it if there was some quest you could do to earn one or more auras. City of Heroes (also NCSoft) has it, for example. You can make your eyes sparkle or have a glow around your character. I know the collector's edition has something like that, but what about a quest that people can do to earn one?

You could earn it buy buying the collector's edition.

Auras would be nice and you'd gain 'em by doing certain quests. The auras themselves wouldn't offer anything except being visually pleasing.

Because of one of the post effects gw has on the scene, wearing white causes a sort of white aura. That totally lacked me out because at first i got the impression that the female ele had that white armor to start off with while the male character had the booring grey one that'd suck the life out of any party. It was only later that i found out that the armor they were wearing were AL60 and something they had been able to get their hands on in the early beta events when the world was alot smaller.

But sure, adding auras would be great, or aura effects such as energy wings that raziel(or what his name was) in diablo 2 expansion pack at the end.

Another thing that would be possible is to add a certain aura to a character if he or she has some form of active spell on 'em that someone is paying -1 regen to keep up. The problem with that however is what you're supposed to do if you've got 10 active regen spells on you XD Having 10 types of wings and such would be a bit overkill. (And yes, i'm fully aware that there already are aura effects for such skills as regen.. you get a nice particle orbiting around your waist x_o)

Having auras would be visually straining for low-end computers, without any benefit except giving players with more play time or money a way to brag over those who do not. People complain that the new /rank command is too distracting, auras that are constantly on would be so much more so. Have an aura if you are the leader of the top guild on the ladder. Don't have something that any idiot can get his hands on. Make them so rare if you see someone with them, you feel the need to worship. I don't want to be considered a "noob" because I don't want to waste my time getting some crappy thing that all the other idiots have.

Low end machines could choose to turn it off or display a simpler version of it.

Hell if i could have my way i'd have angel wings and elven ears hahaha

Being a mighty warrior with huge energy wings like raziel *drool*... it's all about aesthetics and self image ^_~

If we're not going to have auras then i'd love to see more customizeable armor sets. If i want to have metal wings on the back of my armor, then i should be able to in some way.

Btw, /rank ?

Dude, metal wings? C'mon. Let's maintain a decent level of realism here.

Dyes is a good start to customizing armor, and I believe each type of armor looks different, but I agree there could be more customizing options, maybe earned from talking to hard to find guys or doing certain quests.

Maybe in the near future, or even release, we will learn of new ways to customize our characters. I too would like it, but to keep it logically matching the atmosphere of GW (ie, no metal wings.) Let's keep our fingers crossed

Ummm . . . let's see:

Conjure Phantasm. Animate Bone Fiend. Resurrect. Healing Spring. Watch Yourself. Maelstrom.

By all means, let's maintain a decent level of Realism!

Or maybe we'll learn of the three new areas, and spend less time worrying about "Oooh, my Warrior doesn't have pink and purple armor, it's the end of the world!" This is a combat-oriented game. In the heat of battle, nobody is going to notice that you have some special armor. And I assure you, it is not in your best interest to make this game another Ragnarok, where the most valuble items are the ones that do nothing but make you look different.

Nonsense. Most of the game is instanced. Only in towns and outposts will you be around other players. CoH has this feature and it doesn't cause any problems. If your "computer" can't handle a few glowy effects, you are done for in PvP anyway. Your argument about bragging makes even less sense. Why not cap everyone at level 1 and keep our starter gear, lest someone have something they like that someone else doesn't have yet.
