Not worth it I have 12 Red Dye and it was selling for almost 3k this afternoon and when I went to sell mine trader only offered 1g so I waited and tried again and she would only give me 200g. The price can go up all it wants now one buys and trader will not give you enough to make a good profit off of it when it goes up.

I find that really really funny. I'm happy with the abundance of silver and yellow the griffins dropped me when I farmed them.

What really ticks me off is that the traders give me 1g for my silver dye, yet he sells it for 3000g. If you're gonna use trader NPCs, at least introduce some form of supply and demand. It's the same thing with obsidian...200 buy, 3000 sell.

These traders are making 1000%+ profits. Great for keeping inflation down, but terrible for anyone who's not rich.

I've found several silver dyes on my travels of late. I was pretty pleased, because I often struggle to find any cash. Well, I'm not pleased anymore. The frickin' trader offers me 1g for each of them. There's no way in hell I'm selling them for that considering how much they cost to buy, but I don't have the time to sit there spamming for three weeks trying to sell them all. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. I have a large amount of money tied up in stuff I won't be using, but I have no way of freeing it up...

I'm begining to think that Guilds are joint spiking prices and then selling back the stuff they bought low from the dye trader...

BTW: 38k now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The dye thing seems to have been an ongoing distraction for players. At the end of the day, it's just a novelty to make your armour look cool.

How many of you, hand on heart, bought GW to play the market? I concede that maybe trading can provide added interest, but given a choice between questing, exploration & fighting battles to standing by the storage agents in LA for hours on end shouting "WTS...." amongst another 10 traders, all selling the same item, all in the hope that one of the very few silver/black dye buyers actually out there might just happen to pick you....

...I'll go with the crux of the game, and leave the trade spamming for the terminally bored.

Just to add further to the above....

The only people who have the sort of money to buy dye are long-term players, and they'd sooner invest their hard-earned 50k-60k in a rune of Superior Vigor instead of a bottle or two of the black stuff.

The most common places where dye is dropped are all in pre-searing Ascalon, so most newcomers to post-searing will probably already have dye themselves, and certainly won't have the money to buy off others. Chances are they will enter post-searing, and see the dyes that they have be touted for stupid amounts by the dye hoarders, and will balk at the trader's prices. Their only choice is to sell the dye and undercut whatever the lowest offer is in the vain hope that someone will buy off them.

Result: There is no market for the Uber-expensive dyes, and very little for the cheaper dyes.

Solution: Dye traders - drop your prices to something more sensible (like the price of dye from a week ago), leave the trading to the muppets who sink every gold piece that they earn into buying dyes, and be thankful that now you have a bit of money, and you've got out of the dye trading game..
