Been off and on between PvE and PvP, and I learned that the PvP community can be fairly interesting, for lack of better wording.

I was in a match where it came down to me and a level 17 ranger (can't remember their secondary). Eventually my level 20 w/mo won the fight for our team. However, during this time the other team was mocking my build. Stating how I'm a terrible damage dealer, and it's pathetic that I can't kill a level 17.

In reality, this level 17 character OUTLIVED his fellow level 20 allies. And I'm the one with the bad build?

Another incident in which it came down to me against a full healthy team of 4. Well, for about 10 minutes they couldn't kill me and naturally within that time the profanity was abundant. Eventually one of monks let me kill him, at which point I was satisfied to have gotten our team some faction that I just gave up. Although once my guy took a knee, it still took them about 30 seconds to kill me. At which point one of my teammates remarked on how much they sucked.

A match came down to three w/mo, two on my team and one on the other. Between us, we could barely dent the guy, as he could hardly make a dent in our health. Eventually we just sat down, my teammate and I took turns fighting one on one, and made comments on each other's builds. The opposing w/mo eventually left and we got the victory by default. He wished us luck and was on his way.

I've made two friends though from PvP, which was nice. One was a warrior who wanted to know my build because of the longevity it possessed. The other was a ranger who I duked it out with until a Distracting shot got through the 75% chance to block and disabled my Healing Signet. Afterwards we were pming each other about how great a fight it was.

It just bugs me when I play with people who leave right away because I'm a w/mo. Or those who quit without realizing the text saying "I'm using Ressurrect Signet on...". In general the number of players who mock you after death. It doesn't take much to take what was a good PvP experience and turn it into something awful.

Well, those are WAY better pvp experiences than I've had. Consider yourself fortunate. I keep getting people named I Pwnzor Joo, guild tag PWN, whenever I do random arenas (which is why I stopped there). But yet, I see them anyway in TA and Tombs. sigh...

Okay, I'll try to keep this short, though I don't know how successful I'll be.

The Pvp, and Pve community are both filled with morons, I usually find them in the Pve community more because I'm the leader of a pretty good PvP guild and all that jazz. So, let me elate to you some of the things you seem to be confused about.

W/Mo's are terrible damage dealers. Unless you pull the smite out, but even then, just not so hot. People probably leave your group because they know the routine with most w/mo's. It either comes down to the W/Mo who can't kill anything, and the other team can't kill, or you win, and only wait till a good nec or mesmer or ranger build comes along to waste you. So as far as that goes, some people would rather just rejoin 4v4 until they get a good setup for thier group. And that almost never involves a W/Mo.

I guess my best advice, to try and cut it short, would be to try to stay away from 4v4 unless you're going at it with some guildies, and if you're going to pvp at all, get a guild that will do it with you, or find a guild who will let you pvp with them. Tombs take forever to get started yes, but if you get with a good group of people it doesn't matter so much. A good guild is a remedy to the stupidity of the vast majority of people in games.

Nah for a while some of the KD/AS wars went KD Holy Strike with some fairly nice success.

This isn't really directed at anyone it's just my hatrid towards paladins.

If I see another "EXPERIENCED TANK WAR LFG" I'm going to kill someone . WARRIORS DON'T TANK, THERE IS A REASON THEY'RE THE LAST ONES TO GET HIT, YOU CAN'T FORCE THE OTHER TEAM TO HIT YOU PERIOD, THEY WILL NOT HIT YOU ON YOUR OWN, THE LAST THING WARRIORS DO IS TANK, IF YOU'VE EVER CALLED YOUR WARRIOR A TANK FOR PVP KILL YOURSELF.

Okay I'm done.

I was just in a game where a ranger put down frozen soil, oddly at the start of the game. The necro got piled on, after his death I called that I was taking down Frozen Soil and then I called the res on him. The enemy then proceeded to kill me and my teamate while he took 15 seconds to open his map, pick the district he wanted and zone out... -.-;

Yep. I do enjoy that random w/mo taking the charge into our team. It's just a guy screaming "hey, kill me please". And of course I welcome him with a dash of shatter enchantment, and let him swim in my DoT.

I don't really hate them. Just that the majority of the people give that build a bad image. I see a terrible w/mo as much as I see a terrible necromancer in arena. As for me, I get the occasional "Blackout/life transfer is a n00b skill" thrown at me.

I hate arena. =/

Oh God, the arena. It's like a trailer park right after the hurricane isn't it?

The ratio seems to be that for every "gg" or "gj" I or my team gets, I get three burst of childish profanity or racial slurs. And hey, if you're character happens to be darker skinned, guess which particular slur is spammed ad nausiem?

Another think that really sucks is the backlash of the runner thing... any of you arena rangers get this? Sure, rangers are sometimes the worst purpetrators of running endlessly around a map until the other team disconnects, but now, if you play as a ranger, and take more than one step away from opponent, you're labelled a runner.

Even my own teammates have left because of this. "Oh great, we got a f***ing runner," and then poof, they're gone.

Maybe I'm retarded, but I thought the point of playing as a ranger was to, you know... attack at range. And if someone does sprint up to you, I was under the impression that the smart course of action was to cripple them, back off... and then attack them again at range. But apparently, if a w/mo manages to get close to you, you're supposed to bow your head and let him wollop the everloving hell out of you.

Live and learn, I guess.

Please don't judge the PvP community by arenas. Tombs and GvG is where it's at. That's where full 8 person strategy comes into play, where arenas are more of a testing ground. Once you get past the idiot filter at the beginning of tombs you might meet some real PvP play. Try getting to the HoH, when there are enough members on the enemy team to have a full complement of skills to fight against you with, like enchantment removal and all manners of counters to whatever you're using.

This is why I avoid random 4v4's. Sure it's fast and easy to set up, but there's just too much silliness and immaturity involved. Not that such crap doesn't exist in team arena or tombs, but at least then, you have a choice of who you group with.

We can either avoid the places we dislike, or we can try to improve them. I’ll opt for the later one.
Maybe I’ve just been relatively lucky so far. Sure, I’ve seen the words ‘n00b’, ‘0wned’ and ‘you suck’ cross my screen, but most of the battles I fought (and I fought quite a few) were without any such remarks.
Weird things do and will happen. I’ve seen random classes hold out on their own against 4 opponents at times. I’ve seen more random classes taking out 3 opponents all at once. I’ve had comments about things I shouldn’t do and things I should. If we (the ones who are sensible) take the time to comment on others in a calm matter, we might just accomplish that overall players will get better at his/her game.
Mind you, those same ‘morons’ we’ll meet in the arenas also play the PvE game. Now I know that PvP isn’t the same as PvE, but if we can make a person improve his/her play in the arenas, it might also improve in the PvE part.
I think we all agree we want less morons in the game and more people who know what they are doing, right?

Just my 2 European cents

I really enjoy practicing and fine tuning my builds in Competition and Team Arenas, but the maturity in each of these is nonexistant. Sure, there are many good people but there are also many idiots that just do not know when to shut up.

A side note: I really like the W/Mos that yell "Owned" at my Fragility build Mesmer when the only thing keeping them alive was their great healer, they didn't even stand a chance had it not been for the "divine intervention".

Once I made it to the HoH, when it was possible for a rank 0 warrior to get into a group. Now I fear those days are behind me.

We held it for one game, then half our team left. One member says, stay back until time is almost up so I do. One of the other guys attacks, the other screaming "RACTHOH WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING" and "I F**KING HATE YOU DEMINI". I didn't care, I didn't get a sigil, just a crappy sword. Although the profanity was beyond me.

Apparently the idiot filter was turned off that match.

I'm sorry I can't convince you there is fun to be had in PvP :/ Not like people don't behave like jerks in PvE too.

I have fun in the random arenas; that's where I spend half my time now (not that I have as much time anymore; computer problems ). I do agree that alot of people really don't appreciate how much a team helps; I also know that only an idiot yells at the monk when he dies after charging head long into a large group of enemies without telling anyone else.

To do well in the arenas, you just have to bring a heal skill and a res signet, and then whatever else you want, as long as you can do some kind of damage (hey, I should write an article on it). The dedicated monks don't do any damage, and if you already have one of those on your team, then the other three need to be able to do the damage instead (how they do damage is up to them).

PvP isn't all bad. Almost a shame, finding groups with TS seems to weed out the absolute worst of people; I dunno if Team Speak costs anything or not.
