Be willing to make less margin on what you sell. You have alot of inventory? Then move it by selling for less profit. The casual gamers who have a hard time finding the upgrades/runes/rare weapons don't have the cash the power gamers do, but they are the demographic you should be selling to. Lower your prices and your inventory will fly out the doors.
^^^^ Here here.
I always sell stuff wicked cheap. Makes me a lot more money than the merchant will give you and prevents me from wasting hours in the trade channel trying to get that extra 1K or what not out of an item. The quicker you move stuff the quicker you get back to playing the game and making money.

I've always wondered why anyone would pay the prices they do for stuff.
Seems like that anything can drop off any mob, yes? I mean you don't have to kill XX mob to get ZZ dye.
Sorry sort of off topic, but maybe perhaps alot of people are turning off the trade channel in favor of just playing and getting thier own items. Atleast thats what I do.

Because of bugged traders.
Look in over 300 hours of playing Guild Wars so far I found one black dye and that was with playing 3 characters.
Other colors appear to be more common but still dye drops are rare and there is no other source of dye.
Also its not like we can go kill something and know we can get a dye drop, drops are completly random and so you can kill a enemy and get a black dye and 500 hours later of killing him over and over again ... nothing.

The other day I decided to do a solo run and got six dyes to drop within an hour (maybe longer but my brain is foggy) but 2 of those I never got to pick up. Unfortunately I killed 4/5 Charr in a mob and two dropped dye... a red and a purple. As soon as I noticed this my character became frozen, two of my skills were blinking and I knew that err=7 was coming for me. I was peeved off when the err=7 ate my dye. I've never seen that much dye drop before and surely 2 dye off the same group of Charr is pretty rare. Meh. Luckily tho, an hour or so after that episode I killed a stone elemental and got a Black dye.... Then my dye drops died off and in a couple days of playing solo and with henchies all I found was a yellow.

but back on the subject, I still can't imagine people spending the prices they do on stuff.
You may need to be more specific. I've had no trouble selling ecto at the ToA. Why am I not buying anything? Easy, Anet recently announced that we will soon be getting lots and lots of better drops and all the prices are currently sky high, I can wait...
If someone is still selling an unid'd superior vigor rune for 40k, I'll buy that!

It also could be that the word has finally gotten around that "less than perfect" items are perfectly acceptable and there really is no such thing as "l33t" stuff. People who have horded perfect damage items are finding less of a market, I'd guess, due to people finding their own "close to l33t" stuff (
).
).
