Hi Guys

This is my first post and I was wondering if someone could help me out. I completed the game and I'm enjoying PvP in the tombs and toying with different builds and 2nd professions. I've been a Rng/War, Rng/Mes, Rng/Ele and now finally I'd like to try a Rng/Nec.

I'm not too familiar with the Necromancer class and I've combed the forums for a suitable build however I havn't found one that really suits my playstyle.

I was really happy with my Rng/Ele. Here was the set up.

Poison Arrow
Dual Shot
Conjure Lightning
Ignite arrows
Tigers Fury
Lightning Reflexes
Troll Unguent
Res Sig/Alternative Defense

He was pure damage and he was pretty resilent too.

However I've now decided to switch to Rng/Nec and I was wondering if you guys could give me some help. I tried to mimic my Rng/Ele by throwing in Mark of Pain instead of Conjure lightning and Shadow of Fear in my Free Slot however I wasn't too happy with MoP. It has a long casting time and when your target is dead you have to cast it again. So I was thinking of altering my Ranger a bit and switching him to a Dmg/DoT/Debuff character obviously inclined to PvP. Sort of like a vampire wielding a Bow (I like to RP my toons however at no cost to effectiveness).

I've checked the boards and I havn't seen a build that suits this stereotype. Could someone post a build that could get me started referring to Dmg/DoT/Debuff on a single target as it seems this should be effective in PvP(No need for Mark of pain).

Thanks Guys

Rend Enchantments. Plauge Touch. Barbs. Weaken Armor. Pick 2 or 3 of those and take some typical ranger stuff like tigers fury and penetrating shot. Should be decent.

Unless you're in random arena, never take Troll Unguent.

Hi Guys

Thanks. From your feedback and other sources this is what I came up with. Please tell me what you think I should swap out or whatever. I'm completely opened to criticism. I'll post the Build then give a quick strategy explanation.

Apply Poison
Rend Enchantments
Weaken Armour
Penetrating Attack
Virluence (Elite)
Shadow of Fear
Whirling Defense
Troll Unguent

As you can see it is very PvP oriented. I know it looks High Energy Consumative but I think with careful planning it can be quite good. I havn't tested it yet cause I'm still at work. I'll soon get home though. This is a 1 on 1 DoT/Debuff build where I'll have to select my targets carefully, Slap Rend and Weaken Armour(For warriors) and poison them with Penetrating Attack+Apply poison. After that apply Virluence. If they run I can always hit them with with Shadow of Fear and I have Whirling and Trolls Ung to keep me safe.

There might be an issue with my Attribute point Spread. I'll have to see how many points I'll have to put into Death magic when I get home.

Marks 12
Wild 10
Expertise 8
Death 8
Curses 8

I'm not sure if I have too much of a point spread here or I have allocated too many points. I'll have to check when I get home. But I think I can get away with this. I'll also have to see which Bow upgrades I'll need to switch to. Maybe 1 for increasing Hex time and a poisoners Bow string on my Flatbow(for pulling) or my Shortbow( Combat). We'll see. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks Guys

You are spread out way to much on that build tyspi. I really don't think weaken armor is going to be very useful in this build, considering you are going for DoT over direct damage. I don't think you will get much benefit out of it.

Shadow of Fear is a decent support skill against warriors and rangers, but you can do better with throw dirt. I think you might have thought shadow of fear slows enemies by 50%, whereas it decreases their attack speed by 50%.

Also, Virulence is a terrible elite. It's only good on fragility builds (which suck as well). You are putting 8 points into death magic just so you can put weakness and disease on a target.

My suggestion to you would be to lose your necro skills except for rend, get rid of death magic and keep your curses at 4 or something, and pump expertise up. Maybe try plague touch in there. You can do better spreading out DoT's with normal ranger skills then you can with necro skills.
