Video Cards

I just bought a new video card for my computer, cuz the onboard one sucks... and i dont know how to activate it... i think im supposed to turn the first one off... Can any1 help me? its affecting the gameplay... the mouse is all choppy and instead of having color to the armor, everything equipable is white, even the weapons.. the only armors that arent white are gold dyed ones and necromancer collector armors(presear)

(Its a nvidia Video-198PCI-64TV my computer is a 5yo garbage gateway Flex ATX model)

First of all, is your monitor plugged into your new video card? Second, have you installed the drivers for your video card?

EDIT: Hmm I have never even heard of that card. Maybe it is unsupported?

Did you disable your onboard and made the full switch to your new one, and are the drivers new?

(it sounds like its an ati all in wonder, only nvidias take on it)

im not that great with computers so i dont know how to deactivate the onboard one, and when i plug the moniter in the card, it displays a message saying to go into display, and pick a monitor to use.. i try to pick the one i have, but it just goes back to default by itself (i use windows ME and the guy from gateway sent this one to us saying this was the one for ME), and yes i have installed the new drivers.. if it helps the site is

I guess i could just screw around with it until i either make it worse or better since im no expert and thats what i do ^_^

It sounds like you have a NVIDIA GEFORCE4 MX440 64 MB.
You have to go in to you computer bios and you may have to

1. switch off the onboard video
2. change it so you look at AGP instead of pci for the 1st device

*you may or may not have these settings*

if your luckly the mother board will detect the card and do everything for you.

Also go to nvidia and download the most current driver 77.77

LOL - I went to link to the post where I had the driver links for the new nvidia drivers and saw you beat me to it

1. Right click "My Computer" and go to "System Properties".
2. Click the hardware tab, then click the "Device Manager" button.
3. Go to the "Display adapter" and right click the onboard one and disable it.
4. uninstall your drivers from the "Add or Remove Programs" in the Control Panel.
5. Restart your computer.
6. On Windows Me I think it will try to install basic drivers, so if it does don't let it and instead install the drivers that came with your card or the ones from their website.
7. Restart your computer.

You might still have to screw around with it in the Display Properties, but I'm sure you can manage. And make sure you plug your monitor into your card.
