Can anyone with a little time kindly tell me what upgrades are actually available for my staff. I have a wrapping of fortitude, and don't want to buy an insightful head (the prices for just another 5 energy seem crazy to me) so what else is available?
Also, might seem like a stupid question, but what are dyes actually for? They seem far too valuable for people to pay for them purely for the cosmetic value on their armour or whatever, so what else can u use them for?

There's plenty of threads around about item upgrades... do a search for upgrades. As for the Insightful Head, I agree paying for maxed out items is way too expensive. I've found I can find one-off max upgrade/damage modifiers for a lot cheaper. To me, the one point doesn't make much difference.
And the dye is only for 'fashion'. You can't use it except for making yourself look good or selling it for insane prices to make cash. I refuse to pay today's prices for dye. I'll just stick with my undyed armor until endgame and hoard what I find till then.

And this guy is right, dye is only for cosmetic purposes. Nothing else

Personally for staff upgrades I like to use Defensive staff heads and wraps. The Additional 10 Armor vs everything is nice and puts my monk at equal ground with Ranger Armor. Other then that I use Staff wraps of enchanting. The only time I will think about fortitude upgrades is if they are at least +25 or greater.
For Staff Heads you only have 3, Insightful (+1 to +5 energy), Hale (+10 to +30 health), and Defensive (+4 or +5 armor)
