Another melee class to make u happy
Kyten
BRAWLER
i thought of this and its basically a fist fighter, however to enforce the no weapon=no attack i made it wear gauntlets (they come in pairs for 2 handed)
not exactly sure ont he max dmg for these though considering that it would hit quite quickly but here are the attributes
Endurance(primary attribute)-Endurance increases your max health (kinda like energy storage)
Chi- increases the effectiveness of skills that use chi to increase the strength of your attack or to decrease the damage done to you
Martial Arts- increases the effectiveness of skills that involve using stances and other skilsl to increase the effectiveness of your attack and to disable the enemy (for example strong blow to the leg for crippling)
Brawling- increases the effectiveness of skills that involve doing large amounts of damage to the foe and disabling him (like wrestling kind of for example knockdown crippling etc)
here are few skills (yah brawlers use adrenaline 2)
Topple
Cost: 5 adrenaline (im not good with adrenal skills so i dunno how much is too little )
Brawling attack. Knockdown target foe for 3...7 seconds
(attrib brawling)
Tiger Stance
cost:10
recharge time:30
Stance. for 10-20 seconds your attacks do +1...5 more damage
and have 5% armor penetration (if the armor penetration doesnt work then make it 1 to 10 damage)
(attrib: martial arts)
Chi punch
Cost: 5
recharge 10
attack skill: hit target for for 10...24 more damage
(attrib chi)
thats all i can think of any help would be appreciated cause i dont know much about melee class skils

as much as i love to hear new ideas, i dont think this is really suggestions, just a way to express creativity. as for new classes, if a new melee fighter must be added, i would add some kind of a rogue. not with over powered critical strike skills(i.e. backstab, perforate artery, etc) but instead, uses sword weapons & thrusting weps(i.e. daggers, foils, etc etc) and maybe some stealing tricks or nice little hex's, money stealing from mobs, & debuffs. that type of stuff.

okee whatever any other suggestions that are more related to the topic??

Chi Punch.....Chi Blast.....don't forget a Kamehameha....This guys is starting to sound more like a DBZ Character then a Brawler -.- sorry....bit of humor and I'm tired....
Iono...good luck with your thought.

how about a Berserker class?
Kampfkeks
We allready have that Berserker Class... its called Wa/Mo and typically rushes into battle the very first second only to fight until death and die with a lot of curses and anger.
What about a Shapeshifter or a Mimicry? ^^

As long as there's no stealth... I have played DAoC, a game where stealth is greatly implemented, and WoW, where it's still a little faulty; GW is NOT a game where stealth would be good...
meh.

So you're saying that suggestions are bad when they're creative...? Most of the suggestions here AREN'T creative and I'm glad this one actually had some thought put into it. as for new classes, if a new melee fighter must be added, i would add some kind of a rogue. We only have one type of melee fighter, the warrior. Mesmers already have rogue armour, it'd be like making warrior armour for an elementalist. It's already implemented. not with over powered critical strike skills(i.e. backstab, perforate artery, etc) but instead, uses sword weapons & thrusting weps(i.e. daggers, foils, etc etc) and maybe some stealing tricks or nice little hex's, money stealing from mobs, & debuffs. I thought that was what Kyten was trying to put in. It would hit faster, not harder, similar to what you're saying. that type of stuff. The stuff dreams are made of when you've been knocked unconcious by your own foot type of stuff you mean? Ok... |

Kai, dont forget that the kamakazi is actually older than WW2.
they just recycled it, slapped them into a plane and pointed them at the enemy.
i think, if i remember rightly, they took a much older tradition, similar time ad place to the samuri, and adapted it to the situation.
as to rogue. lets call them what they are....Thief.
thats one thing that winds me up, specialy in DnD. most of these rogues are just gentlemen thiefs.sure, they dress fancy and have rules, but at their core, they are still a thief.
DnD ect has changed the tearm, cause people dont like it.
i had a rogue on NwN, and i called her Dureena Nafeel. she was a thief, and damn proud of it.
need someone to sneak around, she could. need a lock picked, there wasnt a lock in the know world she couldnt pick nor a jailcell that could hold her, all the jails knew this. want to get into somewhere, go around, go under, go through...she was the girl for the job.
so, mesmer outfits are called rogue stuff? so what.
add a thief class. make some chests locked, so you need a thief with lockpicking skill.
add doors, too, that need picking. add some misions that need real stealth, not just pretending to be stealthy till you have the item, then avoiding the troops till you get away.
and theres nothign wrong with Brawler. otherwise, wheres Little Thom geting the job?
(yeah, i know, he is just a fighter with an axe rather than a sword, and they wanted to call him somehting other than fighter so you could take both him and Stefan)
or, change it to barbarian ^^ then loads of macho guys get a proper excuse to run about in their undies ^^ showing off their chest and flexing their muscles.
they could all have tats on their chests, and little loincloths and boots and gauntlets fro armour....how many people would dump thier warior monks for barbarian monks, hmmm?
(specialy if they had a chest thumping, gorrila like dance ^^ hhehe)

I like melee classes and this one sounds interesting; some of the skills are really overpowered but it doesn't matter because this is just your idea. I would love to have a fighter with more finesse.

yah i realised some might be over powered
but i thought of something for the weapons, katars=chi (i think thats what theyre called) theyre those thingies that voldo uses from soul calibur 2 im not sure if hes in one
gauntlets=brawling
bracers=martial arts
or instead of katars wrappings to focus the chi i guess

ok then i get it i dont know anything about adrenal skills and if its too little or if they have recharge times cause ive never played a warrior! or maybe make it triple damage
yes i do mean increased attack speed if you see a guy go berserk do you think hed attack slower(note the "more often" i didnt say 'as often')? also remember these guys hit fast so maybe the adrenal cost should be higher???
seeing as im not all that good with making melee skills maybe some of you can try

Holocaust(lower-case while not in the begining of a sentence) mearly means fire and mass destruction. I wouldn't be offended by a fire ele skill called "holocaust".

Man how I used to love DBZ...
imagine a skill like Spirit Bomb... an enchantment spell that lasts for 30sec, if the enchantment is not removed then after 30s all enemies take 50-200 armour ignoring dmg lol DBZ has always been about high numbers.

How about this?
Just as a Ranger has his pet, the Brawler will have a shorter scrappy Sidekick! - one that will say things like - "My friend is gonna kick your butt."
He can be recruited with a Brawler Charm - anything from an annoying little kid to a drunken geezer.
And they'd have separate attacks:
Kid: Ankle Bite, Mommy! (shout) and Nutcracker (use your imagination)
Old Geezer: Denture Throw, Breath (like Choking Gas but inflicts the effects of Dwarven Ale on victim) and Nag (clutches on to the enemy's leg and won't let go - like cripple but effects last until he's killed).
And to get rid of him you don't take him to the Tamer but to the Social Worker.

I've read lots of threads on the idea of new classes and I think there are generally some great ideas out there.
However, in Guildwars at least... lets look at what a class really means...
1) The model
2) The type of armor you can wear
3) The kinds of skills you can use
4) The playstyle focus of that character.
so..
1) The model
This personally doesn't bother me all that much. Sure more models would be great, but it doesn't really affect gameplay.
2) The type of armor you can wear
This one is important, but only so much as in the role your class is expected to operate in i.e. Toe to Toe or at range. Oh and of course look and feel
3) The kinds of skills you can use
Ok - now *this* is really what it's all about. The skills a character can use really defines what it can and can't do. We already have an attribute system to limit the effectivness of skills which aren't specalised in.
4) The playstyle of the character
Warriors are designed to go toe to toe. They're built for it from the ground up and thus their skills, attributes and armor are all designed around this fact. You could *try* and play an E/W, or M/W but most people would agree it's working against the design of the game.
So really, if we wanted a new play machanic, which is what we're really looking for... there's nothing stopping the addition of an additional attribute, say Brawling and creating a set of armor/skills which maximise the effect of those skills.
You could even go as far as to place restrictions on the skills you can use with a given armor. Basically you can't use a lot of the best brawler skills without wearing brawler armor.
Atempting to add an entire new class to the game really ends up feeling like double up to me. We already have so many of the basic roles filled within the game:
Melee/Tank = Warrior
Healer/Protector/Buffer = Monk
Damage/AoE/Support/Distruption/Spiker = Elementalist
Damage/Support/Debuff = Necromancer
Generalist/Snipper/Trapper/Distrupter = Ranger
Disrupter/Anti-Magic = Mesmer
If we can figure out a role which isn't already being covered, (which can't be achieved by adding additional skills/armor types to an existing class) then a totally new class would be great. Otherwise, I think we'll see new skills, armor and attributes being added to existing classes to enchance the gameplay options. It's going to be easier to add a handfull of new skills to existing classes than it is to add a whole set new of new ones to be balanced across *all* the classes.
