People always ask why I would pick Blood over curses in my Blood/Domination antimonk / anticaster necro. This 1/3 of the reason. This move is insanely useful. When you cast this on a monk, if they cast any spell that targets themselves or any of their party members or pets, it cancels that spell AND they take a decent 90 (approximately) damage. This is great for monk lockdown. Cast backfire and soul leech on a monk, then cast mark of subversion and shame so they cant remove the first 2 hexes, and you got one useless monk.

Oh it's a great spell. But the 30s recharge is the killer. If it was a 10s recharge it would actually be useful as a shutdown tool.

Yah, love this move especially since you can diversify your skills for Blood instead of having mostly vampiric or recharging skills without having to delve into other attributes. But I do use a N/Me and in conjunction with Backfire it's amazingly good against Monks. At perfect blood attributes and high domination took about 1/2-3/4ths of the Monk's health plus it fails the healing/protection spell. Used it just in GvG today and took out two Monks real fast.

It's basically a really crappy power leak. I,e not worth it unless you want many interrupts on an me/n.

More pessimism.

For any build where you need to neutralize a Monk's predicted assistance cast, this skill (as well as Shame for the Mesmer) is perfect. Tired of Mend Ailment screwing up your Fragility build? Throw this skill on them (or Shame) just before you get a Deep Wound for your Virulence cast, and they have to come up with a new way to consistently stop it.

Like Shame, this skill will stop the Mend Ailment cast right before it finishes (.74?), and then there's the two second recharge before they can try the .75 second cast again. That's 3.5 seconds and not enough time to keep a 0 Death Virulence cast from inflicting full damage PLUS you get 70-90 stolen health from them, almost ensuring the Frag kill comes even faster. If you want to enhance your Monk killing with Fragility+Virulence builds, this skill definitely helps. For those of you who enjoy solving problems in the game instead of writing them off as hopeless causes, don't let people tell you what's worthless or not.

Whenever my spells fail, they recharge instantly.
Shame, Guilt, Mark of Subversion, and Spell Breaker.

Of course, things might have changed in a recent update that I never noticed, but otherwise, that's the way it's been for me.

Edit; Except for the X attribute or less 50% chance failures. Those have recharges when it happens.

This skill serve its purpose very finely... I would pick this over shame as well.

This is also one of those skill that force monk to pretty much "study" hex...

This skill also serve as part of a spike... once the monk is hit hard, their natural reaction would be healing themselves... but with interruption + dmg, they only just recieve more dmg and wasted some energy by casting when this is on which result an earlier death.

This is actually a good one for echo arcane echo mos. You can keep it going continuously for about 40seconds, well in line with an average arena match, since usually theres only one monk, and this, albeit outside interference (this is arena right ), the monk can literrally cast nothing except signets. Very effective.

If they time it poorly, I just use a 5 cost spell, have it fail, and then signet of devotion/healing touch myself, and it's like it never happened.

The damage is high, but if people are willing to cast through backfire selectively, even if only as removal, and it's LESS than backfire... I don't see how they're going to mind this.

It's like an auto interrupt on one spell + a backfire effect, but only on 1 spell + a short duration. It sounds a lot more useful than it really is.
