I uninstalled the pre order beta about a week or so ago. Today I picked up the retail version. I installed the new retail version and entered my retail key. I then tried to add my pre order key but it said it was already tied to another account.

Am I SOL now for early play because it still thinks it's tied to my pre-order install?

Did you add the retail key to the same account as your pre-order? If you did you have nothing to worry about (Check your account info, see what you have unlocked - you should have Early Access Event, Guild Wars Retail and your pre-order item)

no, I did not add it to the same account as I had uninstalled that account. Can I edit this still somehow?

You'll have to figure it out with the Guild Wars support. All you did was uninstall the beta client, your beta account info is stored online on the GW servers. As far as I know there is no way to merge two different accounts into one.

So, just to be clear. You have different email addresses and passwords for your beta and retail accounts?

correct.

If they can't help me, I guess my only solution is to go buy another retail game and make sure to install that key on my beta email, correct?

Correct.

You could also just wait another day.

If you wanted to use the pre-order, yeah. But I don't see the point in spending another $40 on another copy (unless you plan to anyway, for two accounts) as it would be easier just using your retail account.

All you get from the pre-order is a 24 hour head start and a bonus item. Unless the bonus item is really, really worth having I don't see this as a disaster.

well my wife was interested, so maybe I will just let her use the new account I created and get another game and make sure to install that on the beta side of things.

Double check to make sure there isn't a way to change the email account from your beta key account. I changed email accounts awhile back and it asked for old & new email and it worked just fine. I believe it was under manage accounts. Login in using your old email and change it to the new one. Couldn't hurt to try it.
