UW useless waste of time?

5 rangers is too many. you only need 3

I got this drop sequence on August 16th which was after the trader update. Perhaps ecto drops rates were increased? Or maybe it really was one lucky moment. Whatever the deal I was thinking holy ---- when I saw that myself since many runs often yield 0 ecto.

Why do people complain about the drops ?? are ypou plaing the game for the drps of just for fun.. I have done Fissure now for approx 15-20 times already and no rare drops at all - not even 1 ecto or shard at all.!.. I do not complain.. I do it to adjust and impove my build.. and play with other players

Would it be better if there were rara drops each sec for you ?? why call it rare then !.

Some people are just too impatient and want things to happen immediately. They want that uber weapon so they can make so many thousands of gold and be in the millionaire club. I enjoy working and spending many hours in hope of getting that super drop I need for my characters. As always, if the drops you get aren't good at least you are getting a nice chunk of xp (skill points) needed for caping skills etc. etc. No complaints about drops here, or about this "nerfing" that has been done. Maybe I just hadn't made it to those previously excellent drops locations before changes were made. I don't care, the game is supposed to be fun, and if a day or two of bad drops makes it otherwise then there must be some other old classic game you have to play.

Yes.. I only do the UW and Fissure to get XP and then to get Skill point as I want to unlock "ALL" skills in the game. And sure the Fissue armor looks AWESOME but I will get one - soone or later :-)

This also goes to the guy below you, and all the others asking about the drops.

They NERFED them. You used to get MUCH BETTER drops in UW (not too sure about FoW, only went there a few times). You used to be able to get SEVERAL max dmg storm/shadow bows in a single run.

The reason people complain is not necessarily because they are impatient or want everything handed to them. It just MIGHT be because the drops aren't even 1/2 of what they used to be.

I saw a better map than this..with paths drawn out and npc's labeled..but i can't find it again so this will have to do.

I presume that most of you are on the American servers. In Europe however, getting into the UW is rather hard. It doesn't happen all too often that we get the favor of the gods and if we get it, it's only for some hours...
Getting the favor so seldom is fun, because it makes UW a real guild-event, but that way, you never get enough ecto for even a single armor piece...
If the devs make ecto so rare, they could at least give the FoW armor better stats.

UW with a random group is an interesting experience... So few team members, so much stupidity.

I run UW with groups of other trappers. Initially I was happy just to do the smite runs for ecto, but that gets boring. Like the map indicates there's so much more to the UW than just smite runs, and any player who just farms out the smites is missing out on a great opportunity in a cool map area. Now I just do it for the fun, and if an ecto drops for me, well, that's also nice too.

It's easy to complain about lack of ecto if that's all you're going for. There are about approximately 10 groups of smites on the whole smite run (about 40-50 smites in all) when you enter, and given a low percent chance (say 3-5%) that a smite will drop an ecto glob, for any player in the team, it would be reasonable to expect seeing maybe one or two, or even zero ecto drops from smites alone.

I also tend to find that more ectos drop once the smite run is actually done, and the teams starts trapping ataxes again.

Like it has been said, it's an easy place for Exp, and following the smite run, the quality of drops seems to increase. However, just try finding a team that actually wants to complete UW/do quests/farm beyond the smite run. Now THAT'S a challenge!

Not really as I can get 2+ skill points in an hour with a half way decent pug in FoW. Then I can map to any skill location and unlock any skill that can be bought real quick. With a new char I have to go through pre-seer go to the town I want, get the experiance needed, get in a caping group at my low level so that I can get the elite that I want. Etc. It is quicker if you are having friends or guildes running you as for XP you get run to becons and then to the forge and then have 7 good guildes run you back to becons with killing all the monsters along the way. You level very fast and you can be run to were you want but this requires either massive funds to buy the runs and/or a good guild.

Hurray for skill points. I had 50 of them when I first started going to the UW and Fow, but hey... it's an excuse for their existence.

Really, the FoW and UW exist not for the XP and not for the drops, but as a way of preoccupying older players with meaningless tasks.
