please use fame to rank pvp. You get much more faction gvging IE 1 gvg win will give you like 450 factions

Other then that, G-Stats is an excellent idea and seems like good implementation too.
ANet should wake up and either give G-Stats the program equivalent of 'elite fansite' or ask for the code to implement it within GW.

It is a client side logger, meaning that if I used it right now and won one match, it would still display the 50k faction I already have....

this ranking will only work if this is included in a patch, and every guild wars player has it, and all past stats are tracked

G-Stats is fine to use, Anet wont suspend your account for using it. Gaile Gray (on another forum) said it was "use at your own risk" ... "Anet does not support 3rd party programs".

It's a private ladder for people who use kunt0r's gstats program, which a couple of good guilds are starting to use.
I don't think there's a good statistical metric for ranking players as is, particularly things like fame or faction which are metrics of hours + team quality instead of player skill. Still, the stats are interesting and I'll salute any efforts to figure out just who's good and who isn't.

Too bad the kills portion registers no matter what you kill in game, including mobs. You also get wins if you leave a match prematurely.

Went with Faction just because you get it from all types of PvP (not just tombs) and it's weighted properly so GvG gives more then tombs which gives more then arena.
As for individual player skill, it would be really tough to measure in a heavily team-based game. CS/DoD/UT is a little easier because each player is equally as offensive whereas GW you have toolbox characters, runners, healers, ect. Would be very complicated to assign a level of rank to each type of character you could possibly be, and if Anet ever pulls it off like they said they would, the game will be a lot more fun for everyone.

As for using fame instead of faction for ranking pvp, not everyone goes to the tombs, and given the elitest attitudes some have there where they won't even consider someone for a group, nobody new can even get in a group. Just because they've never done tombs before, doesn't make them a bad player.

Can anyone confirm for sure if this is safe to use, because I would love to know how many kills I have and all that jazz. But if it has legal problems I'm going to hold back at the moment.
But since both Blackace and Ensign haven't closed this thread... is it safe to assume it's good to go?

but if the stat can go like...
Class Percentage: W13% R7% Mo30% N4% E16% Me30%
averge respond time: .4
total Hex Removal: 64
averge hex removed: 5.8
total Enchantment maintained: 143
averge enchantment maintained: 1.8
etc.
Then that would be really something... to a point Anet probably got the right to bring you to court =P

'place in GW directory' message.
well I placed it in the same directory as GW.exe as the Readme told me.
no dice. I don't have it installed at standard location (C:\...\GW) but on my own preference (D:\GW). Maybe that is bugging it, don't know.

Btw, any way of disabling the soundeffects, or turning down the volume?
(might get irritating after a while, even though it is nice to get a notice when people die, I can imagine how much of a difference this would do for the average putrid spammer).

After many complaints about the volume of the sound effects being far off from the standard gameplay/windows levels I nerfed the volume in half. To disable them, just either rename the directory or delete all the sounds.

I have tried installing and running gstats several times through several releases. I can get the program up and running in the background but it has never updated my stats top the web page no matter how many times I have reinstaleld it. I laod gstats in the character selection scene and have tried running it every other place.
