This game is quickly becoming aggravating, but after some tips on my ranger from another thread at least seem to be making some headway.
Anyway 2 of the many things that are annoying me at the moment :P
1) Drops. ok so I know drops are shared and to get anywhere I NEED 7 henchies along, but honestly the drops I get are absolute rubbish. I played a 20 hour stretch Fri/Sat (Iron Mines of Moladune Mission and walking from here to Coppermine to Granite Citadel) and got about 4 (maybe less) purples, armour I think - salvaging got 2 MINOR runes, and maybe the same blues.
I have 2 bows (gold and purple both of which I think I got back in Nebo Village area) that was about half the game away...since then nothing decent.
Don't know if this is normal...I read somewhere someone saying there was a prob with his character that Anet had to correct...maybe that was just a story...but with my drops, maybe not.
Anet needs to do something. At least EVERY boss should drop something. I don't think I've ever got a drop from a boss.
2) Henchies. Gotta love 'em. Anet needs to do something about these too...at least make then the same level as you. Anyway my question was...when you get infused do henchies get infused too?...because everytime I come up against one Mursaat and two Jades both Stefan and Little Thorn are dead within 10 seconds. I can attack one Jade while being hit by another while those two just die...and I'm only a ranger!
This game is great for one or two hours a day, play more and it soons becomes more annoying than fun. Maybe it'll be different when I play with real people...at least can swap the useless (for your class) drops.
Ooo...gotta go! Europe has just taken favour...doesn't happen often! :P Gotta see what hellsthingy is all about:P (probably just more aggravation...)

Actually the more henchmen you have the less the quality of drops. Every time. try going with 3 henchmen.Heal and protector and hjust you. you'll see what I mean. even better make it a party of 3 with 3 players. Even better drops...

The game has a 'dynamic loot balancing system' that automatically reduces drops from any area seeing heavy play - to help prevent farming abuses. The unintended side effect of this is that all high level areas, which tend to be more highly populated than low level areas, have had their drops hit by the balancing system, such that it's nigh impossible for a casual player to get purple or gold max items. You'll find many more golds and purples in Kryta and Maguuma than you will in the Desert or S. Shiverpeaks, simply because there are less people playing there. It's completely non-intuitive that the better drops are back in the jungle, but that's the result of 'farm where everyone else isn't playing'.
I'm assuming they'll address this imbalance in their big update.

I read that Thunderhead (not sure of the spelling now that I am typing it..the one after Irons Mines of Moludune) the henchies are infused. I haven't made it there yet to confirm it so take that with a grain of salt. Why they don't become infused when you do is odd to me but maybe it's a game balance thing. I love soloing with henchies but there has to be some sort of change to allow you to set priorities or orders for them. ie Heal me before you start blasting things Alesia!

You also have to consider henchmen play a role like real players. They split your gold and take items in the form of them not showing up (So you'll see only 1/8 of the drops than a full real player group of 8, right?).

it seems that drops get nerfed down further than a simple 8 way split with henches
i get alot better drops on a full human team or by myself, divided by 8

Thanks all for the replies.
I tried (in my favourite spot for ALWAYS getting at least one purp item) with only Alesia and Lina and you're right! Average 3 or 4 gold/purps per 'run'. Kind of encourages farming.
Damn right there! The only problem with this group.
Indeed. So I didn't get very far in FoW or the other place as neither are the henchies ascended. Kinda like saying "You're welcome to drink in this bar but only if you socialize with everyone here..." Sometimes you just want to sit in the corner by yourself...
