Changing my character to a new profession?

During the BWE's, I played my character as a Mesmer/Elementalist, but once GW launches, I want to play a Monk primary. My question is this: Do I need to delete the old BWE character in order to free up my name so that I can create my Monk? If I delete my character in attempt to free up my name, is the name then locked out until retail? (I have the pre-order and plan to play tonight at 3 am, but I want to keep my name yet change my character). Thanks for any suggestions/answers.

Your old charatcers will already be deleted.

I believe when you delete a character the name is available to you straight away. After an hour if you haven't re-used it, anyone can use that name.

I'll start off with just making all my characters have their names.
