Observer mode for Hall of Heroes

I had been thinking of this last night, as I sat in ToA waiting for my country to get favor. It would be nice if one could observe the HoH fights. I know that observer mode had been spoken of before. It would be fun to be able to watch the guys fighting to win favor, since those battles are usually very impressive.

It would be nice to have observer mode there, and then have everyone observing be able to speak/cheer on the fighters. Perhaps all the observers could be a team. The fighters would not hear the cheering, but the people could talk about the fight.

Just a thought that I thought would be fun to see.

Cheers.

Observer Mode

We are looking forward to unveiling Observer Mode a short while after the changes we mentioned above. Through Observer Mode, players will be able to watch (with a time delay) any battles involving their own guild and any important battles going on in the Guild Wars world, such as rated battles involving high ranking guilds, battles near the Hall of Heroes, and the later stages of seasonal tournaments. We believe Observer Mode, along with far more detailed statistics for each battle, will enable a greater number of players to enjoy Guild Wars at higher level of play. And that means more fun for everyone.
It says "near the Hall of Heroes" - I wonder if that means battles leading up-to but expluding the HoH fights, or will all of the HoH be included in their planned Observer mode. I would hope they are planning on including the whole of the HoH in the "Observation Mode", because I for one would love to see those battles...

This would be good, since the way i learn is mostly through watching, I'd like for this to happen.

This must be a joke, who in their right mind would want to watch 10 minutes of spirit spamming where maybe 1-2 people if at all anyone dies?

My main concern, if you want to call it that, is that there will be so many people wanting to watch these top rated matches, out of curiosity, that it bogs down the actual fight. It all depends on how much is going through the client/server though.

Or 7 monks and 1 ranger sitting in a ball while the other 2 teams try and gank them off. Honestly, the HoH matches arent all that exciting. The broken tower altar map is usually more exciting than the hall.

Copying a build isn't learning.....its really a shame when pug's copy strats and cant pull them off worth a damn. Just look at 90% of the spirit teams in tombs right now, they dont have a clue what they're doing and get stomped on in 1 minute.

ya i sure hope there is an option for your team NOT to be watched i for one dont want everyone whoring our build, i dont want everyone watching what skills we use,how we use them and things. i hope they have thought this through and not just tryed to get people to stay in Gw by giving away builds that people have spent long hard time working out...

You can still tell because of the spell animations even if you can't see explicitly what's being used. I'm all about people being able to watch - no conventional sporting team relies on secrecy of matches for its strength, I don't see why GW guilds should.

Rofl forsaken ftw....

I'd watch the match before I go in if a team has been holding it for a while so I can see what they're doing instead of just hearing stupidity from the people who they beat.

I got news for you, that already happens. I make a lot of groups in Tombs and I've seen many teams using similar builds to those I've come up with. Where they got that from, who knows, could be someone I had in a group, or they could've come up all by themselves. But I know if I play a team that seems to do well, I make a note of what they're players are casting/doing, the different profs they have, and many other things. Sure you won't be able to replicate a build exactly this way, but so what if you could. If everyone started making a build they saw win the hall a few times, you know it won't be long before someone comes up with a counter. I'd love to see someones build that consistently wins the hall, not so I could make it and try to get there, but to make a good counter to spoil their fun =).

I don't give a damn if someone RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs my build because we'll still probably play it better, the only reason I wouldn't want it is because if too many people start using it then people start countering it then you have to come up with another build.

Spike slaughtered when it came out because no one knew about it really they're just like wtf 3 members of my party just died but it was such a simple build everyone just copied it until everyone started countering it.

It might just be me but every spike team I see is Europe, I guess they'll be moving onto smite soon :O.

The problem with actually placing an observation mode in HoH is not that someone can steal your build, but that they can make a build specifically countering yours so they can win HoH.

I like the light screeching sounds in the Hall of Heroes. And maybe you could get it to play the song from the fireworks video! Wow I could make a night even if my monitor wasnt working!

People copy builds pretty well as is if they face you multiple times. Obeserver mode will make that easier, but it won't "start" a surge of copying.
