Increased Ecto Drop Rate?

k... i just did one of my normal UW runs ( Aataxes, Darknesses then Smites ) and got 7 ecto's that run... normally i get 1... if i'm lucky 2... but 7? something has to be up... so i'm just wonderin' if ANet increased the drop rate of Ecto?... if they didn't... god... i guess i was just extremely lucky

Did a partial smite run last night (thank you Err=7), but from the entrance to the second batch of smites 1 ecto dropped, which happened to be mine.
I've had many a run without any drops.
Oh, and for the trapper group I was in before that one... please, trap then pull!

Damn, you've been stealing all my luck! Yesterday I found a whopping ONE ecto for 3 UW runs ... today decided to give up on soloing UW, and made a "normal" FoW team to show 2 new guildies the place - and was getting 80% of the cool loot drop for me

the most i've gotten in a run was 3, but i also got a gold and purple storm bow on that run. i'll take it.

UW drops get nerfed if you keep going back a bunch of time in a row don't they? Because my drops have been god awful lately. I got 1 yesterday compared to the 6 I got the first day I started UW runs. And not to get off topic, but back in the day when know one knew what a shard was, ecto would drop like crazy. I remember once a Bladded Attaxe dropped 4 globs on ecto in one drop for me...of which I went and sold for a whopping 2.5k for all 4. Ah memories....

I did several UW smite runs with 4 man trapper parties. I think I got my first ecto after about 12-14 runs. My 2nd the run after that, and since then, nada.

i remember when i did my first few smite runs (this is solo), i got nada. then i got like 2-3 a run until i got 6 in one run. since then, ive been getting a max of 1 a run.

I can safely say that the more runs you do, the worse your drops get. At least, that is the case for me.
When I first started soloing the UW, I would get 1-3 ectos a run easy. The only runs where I did not get an ecto were when I died before I finished. As time went on, I saw fewer and fewer drops, and this was spaced out to 2-3 runs a day, maybe not every day, not consecutive runs. Eventually I was getting no ectos after 1, 2, and even 3 or 4 runs. I took a 1 week break from it completely, and have recently found 1 in my first run, 2 in my second, and 4 in my past run.
This isn't the only place where I have seen this happen to me either. Maybe it's just a large coincidence, but I have my doubts.

Luck. Yesterday got 5 golds on 3 diff. griffen runs and about 3-4 purples. Today... 1 gold, about 6 purples.

i used to farm sand giants, and i farmed that place to exhaustion. the gold drops never stopped coming, so i think its similar with ectos

Well i was farming sand giants too by going back and fourth from a certain gate area which connects two different areas together to kill about 6 giants very fast and then have them respawn.
Doing this to collect some massive jawbones. After four runs of it and getting four massive jawbones and four purple giant slayer hammers, i just couldnt get nething from them nemore for the next 20 runs. Coincidence? I think not.

They stop dropping stuff completely after a lot of runs from rezoning. This isn't usually the case with UW, but you never know.

For the past two weeks I have been going to the UW once a day. Until yesterday I was getting 1 ecto drop per visit. Yesterday and today I got 3 ecto each trip.
As for drops decreasing, just don't farm the same area over and over. I'll usual stick to one area until I get a gold drop, then move on to the next. I know it's not very logical, but it works for me.
I got two gold Giant Slayer's hammers yesterday on one run of Sand Giants. The Griffon run varies every time I do it. Sometimes regular items only, sometimes gold and purple items.

drops havent decreased or increased recently ... people just don't understand about farming. Someone posts the how to guide to farming all of a sudden we have millions of 'village idiots' with sickle and pitch forks working the field.
rule one ... never farm the same area for more than 5 or 6 times back to back, move to another location for a few runs.
rule two ... realize that your farming with a farming community and don't let your expectations get the better of you. Your drops will still come, but maybe not on the first run. Some days I do a '5 run test' to check the area, sometimes I won't get anything until the 4th run then bam 2 gold rares and 3 purples.
rule three ... most important of them all ... if its not a proactive topic, dont post it to guru.

i found in 3 days UW 60 ectos. Best rate was 3 ectos in one run, worst scenario was no ecto for like 3 runs. Sometimes I made 10+ runs in a row, but I didn´t recognized any differeces if I only make 5 runs in a row.
