I play MMOs with my daughter and my niece so Guildwars is very attractive from a cost perspective (we just gave up EQ because it’s no longer worth $45 a month). So for the most part I’m focused on the PvE content. My big concern is that with a level cap of 20 and the ability to get to level 5 in half a day in the new newbie area the game will have limited long term appeal. I know that the design team would really like to see more player focus on the PvP and the GvG but most MMOs have shown the PvE content and having lots to achieve is what players are interested in. I guess my question is; is this a legitimate concern?
Second question; We played only in the new newbie area this weekend and the game no longer penalized us dying but reset us instead, is this behavior just in this zone? I really liked the old system of having a negative for each time that you die and rez, it was not a drastic punishment but it made you really work to keep the party alive. Plus it made some areas a real challenge to complete and didn’t reduce the fun factor.

Questions after this beta weekend

A lot of people who want to focus on PvE have expressed concern over the low level cap and the speed at which it's possible to gain levels, but I really don't think there's any need to be alarmed.
The focus of the PvE in Guild Wars is not supposed to be in constantly "grinding" for levels. The focus is in completing new missions (which will constantly be added, in the free updates as well as future chapters), playing through the main storyline and continuing to improve your character by gaining new skills. Even once you've reached level 20, you'll still be able to continue ganing experience, which will earn you skill points, which you can use to buy new skills of which there will be hundreds, with more being added all the time.
I think it's really unfortunate that so many people seem to think that the only possible way to continue having fun in PvE is to gain levels and that if there are no more levels to gain, there's nothing else to do. With the level cap being so low and easy to reach, people who begin playing the game at radically different times don't have to worry about not being able to play with each other for a long time because of level differences and the focus of adventures can be on the actual adventures rather than filling up an experience bar.

If that turns out to be true and there is new, challenging and fun content to pursue at level 20 then I agree with you. I have enjoyed the beta so much that I want there to be a reason other then PvP and GvG to play once we reach level 20.

The cost was $45 because I needed three accounts to play with my daughter and niece at the same time and the cost is about $15 an account.

I'm with Lonewolf, I want to see new exiting areas, moster's etc. Don't get me wrong I enjoy piting my skill against outhers and is a fun distraction, but you can do that with any old PvP console game, you have to have more to look forward to.

i am a strictly a adventure explore have fun doing it person and pvp has never been my taste
if you redo the mission you were killed on there is no penality and if you do something else the penalty is mild and short lived
