Henchmen
Khazan
So the other day I was playing, and after a while I suddenly noticed that the henchmen seemed to be doing a much better job than usual. The monk was actually healing regularly as opposed to attacking most of the time like she used to. Only once in the past two days has any henchman died, and that was just because the mobs refused to NOT pile on top of the monk. And when she died, she had no sooner hit the ground when another hench started using a res signet. Aside from that, I don't think any of the henchmen, myself or my pet ever got very far below half health. A friend of mine has noticed this as well.
Has anyone else noticed this sudden increase in henchman competence? Just wanna make sure my friend and I aren't just going crazy. :P

I actually do agree but I have usually perfered henchie groups to people because they won't stupidly go try to take on a mob by themselves. I did find that killing everyone on Perdition Rock with my henchies today (I was capping a skill and not sure where the guy was and ended up killing everyone) was pretty easy, but then again, you could just be crazy

Thunderhead Keep henchies aren't very smart yet...Alesia will not heal the stupid king to save her life. I told her I'd give her 200 plat if she healed him well and she still let him kick the bucket.

Hmm, I see. Could just be certain areas then I suppose(I'm still in the old ascalon areas[need to head over to ruins of surmia and do the third mission], after all).

Second, I disagree with you--I went with 4 players (no monk primaries, or secondaries) and the henchies kept everyone alive quite well. A surpise over last time I tried about a week ago.

Lay off Luna, its not a blatant double post.
And yes, THK henchies are dumb. I even tried henchies to skill cap in Iron Mines and got pwned.

alisia is 10x smarter. one thing i notice is she will stay out of range of monsters. then she will run up to heal and run away again to stay out of range.

henchmen have been better than most average human players for a long time now

Does Dunham cast spells yet?
The last time I had him in my party, we were up against a musraat monk boss and he just kept shooting it with his wand!

I believe henchmen AI increases in efficiency as you progress through the game. I just started a new game and my henchies won't listen to me for crap.

Here I thought Durham was shooing away enemies... Actually I have seen no other use for Enchanter or cultest other then extra targets to attack while I summon bigger spells. Hench do at time seem to be smarter, then sometimes not. Like when I'm running around a group of jade or something, one of them will break off from the pack and go attack. Usually its a Thom in which case I call him a NOOB and let him die

no use for Claude? I guess you never got any claude necro lovin'..
I take him everyewhere I go as I find his support of the group just makes us able to kill and survive much better. He's using either BiP or BR (to be honest I've never noticed which it is.. all I know is I love it when I'm low on energy in a fight and suddenly get like an extra 3 or so pips of energy regen) Alesia mid-battle so often when she's busy casting healing spells, as well as BiP/BR'ing me when I'm churning through energy attacks. I have to say that some fights ended up with no-one dying simply because Alesia was able to keep everyone healing because Claude was BiP/BR'ing her. Heck, him BiP/BR'ing me was great as it let me spam my energy attacks more often.. which kills things faster.. which makes things much better
Dunham I've taken once.. and I have actually noticed him casting something on the enemy - I think he was casting backfire.. the enemies bar went purple with the down arrow.. but never lost any health. Pity it was a melee enemy who didn't use skills/spells much... pfft! I have never found a use for Dunham.. except as fodder if I can't find a player
I will admit that I haven't seen henchmen get smarter... alesia generally still races ahead of me to get all critters aggro'ed on her... thome & stefan run back and forth when an enemy is near.. 50% of the time getting aggro wen I don't want it... Claude is the best of the bunch as he 95% of the time stays behind me an dstay there ... Rayne is good too as she 90% of the time is behind me and will move away from critter's targeting her.. (which most of the time gets the aggro to me eventually.. which is good on my W/Mo.. heh).

Claude uses BR on warrior henchies. The only reason I take him is because its better to have a 1/8 chance of BR than a 100% chance of distortion.

The cultists are always in my team, I love them! That energy regen bonus they can give is so wonderful, and they hurt things too!

Dunham has pink sparkly stuff around him at weird times.. that looks cool Other than that.. he keeps my monk busy, so he gets to tag along.
