I just got the pre-order package and would like to invite a guest to join me on the next Beta week-end. The problem is....my friend is in the Netherlands. Would she be able to play if I gave her the key?

I don't know. I am in Canada. It cost me $10 Canadian. I don't know if you can get the pre-order package in Europe. I was glad to get mine and see that I got an extra number key that I could give to a guest. I have a friend in Netherlands so I would like it if she could get the chance to try the game.

Zero. You don't pay for the package. It's only a deposit. Because of this, however, the initial price varies from store to store. I paid 20$ Canadian in EBGames.

sorry to disagree as you can buy it as a separate stand alone purchase

it depends on where you buy it and the store policy

MOST stores treat it as a final purchase and give you a discount of the preorder on the purchase if you come back and buy the full game from them

but it is widely available as a separate purchase and if you try to return it after (or before) the retail comes out you will find out it was not a deposit and is not refundable (at least any place i have checked so far)

it may be a deposite on the game but it is a non refundable deposite

A deposit is never refundable. That's the whole idea of a deposit. By paying a deposit you promise that you will buy the final product.

many deposits are refundable when you bring the item back

anything from pop bottles to apartment rent deposits just to name 2

I paid 5$ CN too at EB Games near my home. I bought my pre-order copy immediately after the free open beta of september 2004.

I am sure your friend will be able to play from Netherlands next beta.

For the pre-order, which they practically give away free. Its when the game comes in is when they get real money - ebgames here charges 1 cent for the pre order package
