This might be a stupid question but....

What is the advantage/benefit of having a Guild Hall? What is it used for?
I tried searching the forums but couldn't find answers.

you need a Guild Hall to enter guild battles. It's also a meeting place for guild members.

oh.... and an advantage for recruiters to attract random members

*friendly advice* Seeing that that is your first post, just want to be constructive with helpful hints - Do searches throughout these forums for any questions you may have as they more than likely have been asked/answered previously. (will help avoid more work for the moderators and frustration for you when/if they close your thread). wow... that was fast. thanks guys. So a guild hall is only used for GvG battles and Guild meetings. Is there like a massive storage area in the hall where every guild member can store some items that they want to trade with other members? That would be kool and very useful.
