Black Dye: Sell to trader or players?

I'm pretty new to the game, been playing for a week now. Happened to find my first black dye and I'm curious how I should sell it... I've seen alot on here about weird dye prices and etc.. Its all kind of confusing to be honest. Dye trader was offering 8k for it last night but is that less then what its really worth to other players?

how much was it selling at that time when 8k was offered? if it was off like by 1k, might as well sell it to the trader instead of the hassle finding a buyer.

Not sure since, I guess thats what I'm asking then... The vendor appeared to be sold out; so I was wondering what the players would be willing to pay?

If you have been actively playing for a week, then I can assume you have made it to Lions Arch. Try take a look through the trade channel chat and do an assessment of what is the market price, then adjust your price from there. Obviously if you ask for a price that is greater than what the merchant is SELLING, then no one will buy from you.

Just use a simple formula:

IF Mood=bored
THEN Spam $chat"SELLING BLACK FOR <Traders price + 1000> GOLD!"
ELSE Sell to trader

Most of the time I ask friend/guildmates if they need anything so I can give it to them. If not, I'm selling it to traders. I hate wasting my time looking for someone to buy my crap (Vampire string 5:1, Max Dmg weapons, Sup Runes: Trader will buy anything).

I see.. Thanks! I'm probably going to try again tonight for 8-9k. I saw someone asking for 7k each, even tho it was 8.5k from trader and sold out. >_>
