Registration Question

Hi, hopefully I am in the right place. When I register it says that many countries require that I put my mailing address.... and well my Q is do I have to o.O I mean I reallly never felt comfortable giving my real mailing address away unless I was purchasing something o.O I dont mind saying yeah I live in Toronto, Canada, but well maybe the internet has just got me not too jumpy to my whole address away. So whats up with this? If I dont put in a completely real address will that affect me in any way?

Anyone got an answer? Do I need to provide my real home address? I fail to see why they would need it :/

I haven't played since last beta but it never asked for my address. They might use it to verify that you're the owner of the account if you loose your password or something like that so if you do put fake info in make sure to jot it down and keep it around somewhere just in case.

I put in my real address. In line two I put in some garbage so that if I start getting junk mail, I can get in touch with Arenanet and ask them why they're selling my info to outside organizations.

I do this anytime I'm asked for my address. It can be fun.

I played lasr night and tonight and they never asked for my real address just my e-mail. If you country is one that need the real adress just move to the other servers.

Thanks but this is during registration, not when im picking my server, but its cool, Im just going to give them a trash address... as much as I love Guild Wars, I don't like giving it away
