Rubies And Sapphires

Once again we have been hit with a hoard of an item and prices are skyrocketing. After all the stress over the summer update release people have been dying to find a way to keep themselves interested in the game. I'm sure most of you have read the topic about grog and his antics in LA districts from time to time. (please refer to http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...=summer+update if you have not).

So now just at the mention of rubies and sapphires our wealthy people or ebay gold buyers have sunk their money into hoarding yet another valueable set of items in the game. No one knows for sure what these are used for but with slight mention they are all gone and we are faced with more skyrocketing prices. Lots of people could not complete their FoW armor due to the prices raising, but now with some sort of use for these gems, many other people will fail to achieve something once again. Please ANet, keep your secrets away from the public for instances like this. Before the update is even released people are already ahead and many behind on the subject of what these gems may be used for. This is not another complaint thread. I've no reason to be upset over something I have no idea about. I just wanted the topic at hand to be discussable with the community.

Please everyone else express your thoughts on this subject (and all similar).

15K armor is plenty for me. 1.5K armor looks pretty ugly, but all the 15K looks neat so that's something to work towards. FOW and this 'new' armor requiring rubies and sapphires is just useless grinding to me. I'd rather go find a new game or scratch myself before trying to get that armor.

Even if someone gave me $100 to go buy the items, I'd decline. For me it's a waste of time to try to even BUY the materials needed. In addition, when does it ever end? You get FOW armor, but then the new 'cooler or more expensive' armor comes out. Then you gotta get that. Then in 2 more months that new OTHER armor comes out and spiritwood planks soar by twenty fold. It's just rediculous.

If everyone knew what was happening, there would be no use for updates. I applaud the leaking of info. I bet the gems are worthless, lol.

I totally agree. FoW is a gold sink for people who don't have much else to spend money on. and even talk of supposid new armor even sounds more of a joke. The only thing that will suck about it is, if there IS new armor and it happens to be better in AR/Mods (not just looks) then it will go downhill very fast. I highly doubt it would be anything better than what we can purchase, but just the thought scares me a little bit.

And i hope the gems ARE worthless. I hope the frog was just making a player feel comfortable for spending all his money on rubies and sapphires. Leaking info like that is a BIG problem, when they wont even give us any other info other than some screenshots and the names of the places.

Just like spending money on Monstrous Eyes, Fangs, Claws etc.

I wonder if collecting a whole set will allow you to "unlock" or buy special armor. Hey, if they sell a "teddy bear suit armor" and require those items as material...I bet ppl will get them too. (I will too, in fact)

they won't be useless seeing as they are priced close to shards and ecto (well used to be close to ecto). one thing is though you never know when or if they are going to increase the armor def for the update.

i've been eyeing them for a while but we already have them stockpiled so i'm not too worried about. if the def stats are increase then its worth it if not we will sell them off when update comes to make huge profit off the "new" buzz. either way i win.

It might not even be for new armor crafting. It could be you are required to have one of either or one of both to do something in the new zones. No garuntees on new armor people, but the only thing i could think of is it would be used for new armor. I have 4 complete characters with armor setups i love. and until better def armor comes out i dont need anything else.
