well, fire is good for a 3 man smite group for UW also (a sort of psuedo-farm). You won't get quite as good drops, but there is less of a chance that you will die and it is sped up rapidly. But the grif-build is very very good, so if you're looking for a farming build then you probably should use that one.

For a fire elementalist (or anyone with decent AoE spells) the Flame Temple Corridor (where you go to do the ashes quest) is a great low-level area to farm, and you don't need any special build to do it. The reason is that there are -lots- of charr and they are all standing still in groups of 2-4. Most of these groups consist of 2 ranged and 0-2 melee creatures. So you get near a group, target the nearest caster, cast Fire Storm, followed by Fireball, this takes care of the ranged members of the group, at this time switch to any melee charr (who by now are just reaching you) and use whatever seems appropriate to kill them off. Regen, rinse, repeat. Since the charr won't wake up until Fire Storm is just about to fall on them they have a very short window to do damage to you, just a bit over 2 seconds if you are high level.
This is a pretty decent money making run, the charr hides you get will sell to players for 50 gold each and there's about zero chance of dying. It's definitely not power-farming by any means, but it's nice in that you can do it with a non-farming-specialized build.

I've had some good results with mid-level farming by hunting the trolls and scarabs in Silverwood (accessible through Bloodstone Fen and Quarrel Falls). Both come in fairly small groups and both are melee fighters, the trolls being by far the tougher of the two. I'm a pyro/geo Elementalist, my strategy for the trolls is to aggie the group, immediately cast Armor Of Earth for +53 physical armor, then Eruption, Fire Storm, Fireball, and then Flame Burst. Any troll health left over from this combo can be handled with a flare or two. Eruption is good to cast first because it gives a 10 second blind after 5 seconds, which greatly reduces the damage you'll take. For scarabs do the above but leave out either Eruption or Fire Storm, both is overkill.
There are also Maguuma groups in this area, but I avoid them because I haven't found them to be easily handled by my build. The reason is that each group has a healer, 2 fighters, and often a ranger. I have to take out the healer first, and by the time that's done I've just spent too much energy and eaten too much damage from the other 2/3 to make it work. You'll get a lot of mossy mandibles and jungle troll tusks from this run, haven't found much call for the mandibles but the tusks are in high demand in the outposts/cities in this area and can easily be sold for 80-100 gold apiece. You'll also get pretty good money just from selling off the items you find and from the gold you pick up along the way.

I haven't found a high level place I can farm, not surprising since it usually takes a specialized build to be effective at high-level farming. I just run out of energy and take too much damage from every high area I've tried. If anyone has suggestions for a place to try I'd be happy to hear them.

For an easy farm location and your level - you can do the mission at Nolandi Academy. At the start, pull the lever to let in the Charr horde. Then start nuking / self healing while using ranik as a shield - just make sure he doesnt' die.
Now the drops aren't extraordinary, but you get a lot of drop for so little work in one locaiton. I did this to pick up tons of charr carvings, ect to salvage wood from. Then you can either sell the wood planks to the materials trader or use 20g and 5 wood to craft parchment to sell for 100g a pop. Cheap and easy way for lower levels to get some gold.
