It's really up to you, if you want to spend the skill point now to use it, or if you can wait to acquire it as a reward.

i just recently made my way to the lion's arch, so in the case of the reward is out there, is it anytime soon? =)

It's ok to buy a skill here and there once in awhile if it's a useful skill. If you aren't planning to change your secondary by the time you ascend you'll have like +15 skill points to spend still for skill captures.
